Has moved to PSG representing a £14m loss for Utd.

Was he really that bad? I saw something which said he was the 3rd most creative player in the league last season. Could this be a massive over-reaction by united and not really appreciating that sometimes it takes time to adapt?

I know they paid a lot of money for him and they didnt get what they'd hoped for. But have they given up on him too soon?

I understand the concept of cutting your losses - but was he really that bad last season? And do they think he's now definitively 25% cr*pper than the player they chased only last year? Liverpool are only asking £7m for Balotelli after paying £24m for him last year I think. Is this in the same category as that? (Balotelli is a trouble-maker, has always been tempramental, inconsistent and ?that good - he was a panic buy after they lost Suarez and I can understand why they want rid and are prepared to take a hit to do it - but is the same true of Di Maria?)

I was definitely one of his weaker seasons in recent years, yet this in itself is hilarious when you consider that disappointing for Di Maria is still better than probably 80-90% of other players in the game.

From what I gather however there appeared to be a bit of a personality clash between him and LVG, there were complaints about poor attitude and work rate from the player and that he wasn't happy with Manchester as a city - especially not after his house got broke into, not to mention the crappy British weather compared to Spain and his home Country.

For me, it's one of those decisions you make when you don't see the underlying issues being properly resolved if you keep the player, thus it's better for both parties to move on and write it off as one of those moves that just didn't fully work and accept the loss in transfer fee upfront, rather than both parties being unhappy and then having the financial cost involved in paying someone probably 200k+ a week to be sat on the bench or performing at 80% of their genuine ability...
