I'm Chelsea and he looked a gem for us a couple of years back, comlletely bossed afull strength Liverpool midfield in the cup.
Didnt see thd palace game, but seen he got 2 out of 10. What is it, is he not bothered or just doesnt appear to have the ability ?
Genuinely curious and quite supriaed at his fall from grace.

First, he isn’t physical enough and can have the ball taken from him quite easily. He’s “ nice” on the ball but a lot of the time he plays sideways, the new Ray Wilkins perhaps. Finally, I still haven’t worked out what his best position is. He’ll look good playing for Chelsea because he’s got lots of good players round him but he looks incredibly exposed playing for us. At the moment he seems very overrated

Luxury player, and really not the player we really need. Bit too lightweight, and needs far better players around him to make him look good.

But I will say he is not the only reason we are struggling, we had ten first team players out today. Also, due to injuries there is nobody really pushing him for his place. It is unfair of our fans to blame him for all our woes.

Just say N'golo Kante mate, the reason Leicester won the title & largely the reason we've had the recent success we have.
Also the reason we've recently dropped points.

I don’t think that chanting “f*ck off back to Chelsea “ at him helps anyone though

There is a lot of discussion on this, so will expand a bit.

When Webber assembled the squad before the season started he had a lot of players to upgrade on, players that may have served us well, but really aren't up to this level. I'm talking about Leitner, Vrancic, Tettey, Stieperman, Hugill and Hernandez. He had a certain budget to be able to do this, so was spreading himself thin to start with. He will have scouted Billy, and identified him to be a Leitner/Vrancic replacement. He also scouted other players to come into the midfield (Lets not forget the Skipp sized hole in our team too) as a whole unit.

Farke played Billy sparingly, to begin with, mainly as he had a few other options, but as time has gone on he has become first choice, not so much through great performances, more so out of necessity, due to injuries. And as players have got injured, Billy has had to take on more responsibility, where we are in the situation where we are literally looking to him to win every single game for us. Is it fair on him? Probably not. But it is what it is, we had ten first team players missing yesterday, and a back four that barely know each other, never mind having played together.

Would Billy look world class in a team with the movement of Havertz, Kante, Werner and Lukaku around him? Of course he would, I could probably look good in that team.

Is he the wrong player for us? Not at the start of the season, no, but now that he is having to take on a role that has been forced by our injuries, possibly. It is definitely worthy of note too that he played the Villa game with a temp of 39 degrees, so assume he has had Covid, which would explain low energy levels. But we could really do with the club explaining a bit more about this, because it is an obvious factor in some players performances over the last few games. He's a young player playing his first full season at this level, but what has definitely not helped is Chelsea fans battering us with the opinion that he is world class, and way too good for us. He's a great young prospect, but do I see him as a regular in the Chelsea midfield next season, not sure. If he was as good as he is being bigged up, he would be in the Chelsea midfield this season.

And too much has been made of that fan chanting yesterday, Billy is a loan player, he's always going to take stick, but at the end of the day it is awayday gallows humour, those very same fans will be singing his name next game, that's just how football works.

Gilmour is still being dined out by Chelsea on Scotland v England months ago when he had the game of his life to date. With us he's played with Covid, without it, without world class players around him, and out of position most of the time, and without the necessary muscle to protect him either. Terrible signing by Webber to join all the others.

Just been watching Vinnie Jones out here on the league show, pretty sure Gilmour would have liked playing with that man as his minder

God knows what Webber was thinking. Was he expecting defence-splitting passes straight to Pukki and 20 assists in the season? Farke could see what an unsuitable signing he was and interestingly that was one of the reasons many fans put forward to justify his dismissal. It would more justify Webber's dismissal.

For any that saw our game last night, what did I say the other day about Kante ? Put N'golo in the Norwich team and you will be top half, take him out the Chelsea side and we're bang average. It's a shame to hear that about Billy Gilmour, as likely to be another that slips through our fingers and is reborn somewhere else as a superstar. Not sure what happened to Norwich from last season, but for a lot of us it seemed a good move, as you were playing half decent football. Not sure what happened at the home game this season, as looked to me like yours had given up before they even started. Seen all that before at chelsea, stll have the nightmares. Saving grace from last night is I've couldnt go, as have covid, watching it on tv was bad enough.

and for those that are a little older, a Chelsea v Norwich memory. First game of the season at stamford bridge (0-0 or 1-1, cant recall and too lazy to look up) picture on the front cover of the programme was printed back to front.

He's class obviously playing in a struggling team every week.Hes a winner always has been.man of the match performances.in nearly every game since he made his debut for Chelsea and Scotland class is permanent.cut him some slack.if farke had stuck with him instead of over thinking things Norwich would be mid table

When billy gilmour got the ball I couldn't believe what I was watching everyone was hiding with the exception of kenny McLean and Angus gunn. that was the side way pass and the pass back, remember even when he lost the ball he had the bottle not to hide and tried to find space and look for a pass.Messi would have struggled out there so please stop looking for a scape goat it's a rough spell and there's no where to hide in this league

@Jackob007 Glad to see you've got a sense of humour. Believe you me we've needed one this season. BG was brought in to the disappointment of a lot of us because he wasn't what we needed. Not that you'll give a monkey's, why should you, but our recruitment has turned out to be shyte, and unlike you lot we don't have your sort of wallet. Believe you me he's not the only one coming in for the sticks and stones. Many of us do agree that some of the chanting that he has been subjected to, is completely out of order and for that we want no part.:)
