Norwich Talk is Back...Under New Management

Hello all,

I will introduce myself a bit more in the coming days and talk more about the direction id like to see the forum heading in. As you can see we've had to do a bit of an emergency migration, although its one I would have done anyway. I generally don't plan and execute a migration, create a custom theme ( not finished ) and get everything setup in a matter of hours. ( Normally weeks ).

So with that in mind, there is alot to do still. There will be bugs so please bear with me, I'm pleased to be able to keep this place alive and offer it a more stable home and ultimately give everyone a place to talk without fear of closing.

So again, sorry for the short intro and possible bugs around the place, or indeed if you struggle to find things/functions compared to the other platform. I will explain more and get to know you all a little better over the coming week or so.

When you've finished doing whatever it is that you still need to do, you should send out an email and a tweet or two announcing new ownership + design. Think 2 or 3 would come back immediately tbh, I fell out with a couple.

Thanks for being so professional during this process, this place has been neglected for too long so needed some fresh impetus. That's another transfer deal completed during the January window

Yeah all in the pipeline don't worry want to get things running a little smoother over the coming days and then we'll try start to encourage old members back and more importantly some new ones.

Looking great! Just one thing (sorry to whinge lol) is there anything you can do with the two step security verification? Took me 8 email codes to get it to work (and wouldn't work at all on phone, only on desktop) and I tried to use the QR code to enable and that didn't work at all. We have a few older fellas that this is going to confuse Oh and nice to meet you Adam, I'm Mark.

Sorry Mark, That was my fault and im afraid I singled you out..........no one else would have had that problem. I forgot to switch off the mandatory verification, for Moderators .

Switched off now though so shouldn't be a mandatory thing, if you are still seeing it though you can go into your settings and disable it now.

If anybody has wondered why I reached out to see if the new admin wanted to take the site, here are the reasons:

1). The bloke has a HUGE dedicated server, powerful enough to host a few thousand NorwichTalk's simultaneously. I can already just 'feel' how smoothly this place is running now its not stuck on Invision's cloud.

2). He's an actual xenforo forum expert

3). I had two other ideas to save this place, felt out of my depth with what I would have had to do for one of them and the other one was a Norwich based owner of a Chelsea forum with a very poor taste in both football team and forum design.

The place is in good hands

Not sure id use the word "expert" , but I know a enough to make a difference I hope but thanks for the sentiment.

Rest assured the forum will remain open and speedy, I have access to quite a few enterprise servers so adding this little site to one of them isnt going to make too much difference , I'm glad I could be of assistance to keep the place running....and of course to start making it busier.
