After being subbed apparently he went straight down the tunnel with the medical staff, any truth behind this ?

I saw him clutching his arm before he was subbed, looked like he took a knock on the wrist.

Apparently he went straight home after the game at the weekend, annoyed with himself that he hadn't scored more goals and preceded to go over the game that he'd recorded at home and see what he'd done wrong etc. If so, excellent attitude.

Not to moan, but he needs to sort his decision making. His early chance yesterday, he has to hit that across the keeper. Every decent striker knows that.

Or a confident striker will fancy his chances of beating a keeper on the near post?

Doesn't matter how good the strike is, going for the near post is relying on an error from the keeper. Has to go for the far corner.

Grabban mystifies me. I watch him and see a lot of decent work, but poor touches, variable finishing, but he has scored goals ( but should have had more). He is not Prem standard by miles for me. I would seriously consider Hooper but that's just my opinion and can understand people seeing things differently

Agreed. That said though, we all saw what happened against Blackpool when he's one on one and goes to hit it across the keeper

But yeah, his decision making at times is appalling. He could easily be in double figures by now.

I've only seen that chance live at the game and I think maybe people are being overly critical. He was being closed down and I think to get the shot away quickly he stabbed for the near post.

I doubt Jerome would have been knocked for doing the same thing.

Just read this on the EDP:

Lewis Grabban

An excellent signing, a player with potentially all the attributes needed at the very top level. I think he’ll start the season as the main striker.

Really? Perhaps I just havent seen enough of him but whenever I have seen Grabban I've only ever seen evidence of a fairly ordinary championship level striker.

I may be doing him a big dis-service, but I havent seen anything that suggests to me he can really step up. Id worry if we were relying on him for goals in the Premier League.

Others Im sure will disagree but I certainly wouldnt say he has 'all the attributes needed at the very top level'. IMO his finishing and decision-making need a lot of improvement for him to be genuinely Premier League quality

Been saying since pretty early last season that he's a better player many give him credit for.

Well hopefully I'll be able to watch all the games this season, something I was rarely able to do last season so maybe I'll see more in him then. Would be delighted to have my opinion changed - this certainly happened for me with Jerome

Think Grabban is far better suited to the premiership than the championship. Imo he's also the best striker we have for working the channels, pulling cb's out of position and bringing our more attacking mids into the game. I'd prefer to start with him before cam jerome.

Grabban reminds me of a slightly better version of Simeon Jackson to be honest.

Able to score a few goals, and occasionally hits a purple patch, but overall the quality is not quite there for the top level. Even if they put in a good shift for the team, we need goalscorers as well, and both Jackson and Grabban struggle with the quality of their finishing.

Good player to bring on later in a game to stretch the opposition and keep them on their toes defensively, but really not good enough to be our main goalscorer

Personally think Grabban and Jackson are on completely different levels. Jackson was a.......better version of Cody McDonald.

Grabban will be a far more important member of our squad next season than Jackson was in the Premier League.

I would be amazed if Grabban had any impact in the Premiership, just cant see him scoring goals, though his overall play might be good.

Here's hoping I have to eat my words in a years time

I can't see Grabban scoring too many goals next season, however I think he will certainly be an important player. His finishing really isn't great but in terms of running the channels, and creating space for the players around him he's the best at the club. His link-up play is pretty good as well (although IMO not quite as good as Hooper's). Neil seems to like him but I wouldn't start him ahead of Jerome against Palace, and I don't think he will.

For me, the striker's shirt is Jerome's and its up to the others to win it from him. And that includes any new signings. Jerome starts the season and the others have to impress from the bench. If they outperform Jerome then Jerome has to rise to the challenge. Jerome proved himself last season and though not prolific is a proven Premier League performer. To start the season with anyone else sends a really bad message to the players if you ask me.

If Jerome doesnt perform, he'll soon lose his place and noone would dispute it.
