Big game this. By all accounts we were pretty lucky to come away from their place with three points. If we can beat them we will leapfrog them into the play-offs, and of course close further on Bournemouth

Absolutely huge game (for Alex Neil in particular).  It's one thing to hang on against a pretty shocking Cardiff side, but to beat one of the most consistent performers in the league would be a great achievement and a big confidence boost for any doubters of Neil. It would be great to finally get back into that top 6!

If Neil can keep the defence awake and concentrating, and if the crowd urge the team on, we must be in with a chance of winning. Their Goal Difference is well inferior to ours, which suggests either that they are not scoring many goals, or else that they are conceding too many.

Really looking forward to this one, it's a big chance to get back to the top six and close the gap to the auto promotion spots. Win this match and we're 5 points from second place at worst with plenty of games left to play.

Yeah, this is a huge game. Even more so since Bournemouth lost last night. I'm confident. I think their league position flatters them.

We have speculated about the rest of the season being in our own hands. Well this is a good chance to remind all the rest of the top clubs that only Boro have hurt us but we have certainly shown we can take them all.

Brentford are no mugs away from home 6-1-6 and they draw very few games so they have to be(e) respected but not feared  and the divisions highest home scorers really ought to win.

With Bournemouth and Ipswich losing, those auto promotion spots are looking closer than ever

If we win this game, then we will be just 5 points off first place. With the majority of the teams above us to play at home. It's all getting very exciting.

I'm pretty confident about this, but I probably shouldn't be as I keep waiting for Brentford to go on a poor run and they just keep plodding along picking up points, but I think we should win this, we've played well in pretty much all of our home games this season and havent really got the results in some games that we deserve, as long as we dont go to sleep for ten minutes like we did against cardiff we should be fine and I'll go for a 3-1 win

I mentioned this is twitter yesterday, but it looks like there will be a streaming video feed for this game.  beIN will be showing it online here in the states, which means there's likely piggybacking on a domestic broadcast (not sure who is covering it though, as everyone seems to be focused on FA Cup) that will be picked up by somone.  We've had audio coverage of the game for the past several weeks, and I think that will continue... but of course most folks would prefer a video feed.

I'm really looking forward to this game.  We've had our poor run and with the changes made (and perhaps more to come) we appear o be coming into form while those above us (namely the cherries and binners) appear to have peaked.  We've played everyone above us and there's really no one we can't handle... we just need to avoid the derpy games (hello... Reading [/seinfeld]),shore up the back a little to keep the brainfarts to a minimum, and take care of business.

Yeah massive game - to close within 5 points of the top would really get those above us worried, but Brentford are getting some good results.

Also be interesting to see the effects of a couple of weeks with AN in charge.

Think this'll be a tight game. If we play how we did in the second half against Cardiff we're gonna get rollicked, but I don't think we will. Brentford are a good team who I can see causing us problems, but it is absolutely vital that we win this game. Results in the week went our way with the likes of Ipswich and Bournemouth losing, we desperately need to take advantage of that as this is our best opportunity for a while to not only climb back into the top 6, but close the gap at the top of the table.

Team:

Ruddy
Martin Turner Cuellar (Olsson?)
Redmond Tettey Johnson Lafferty
Hooper Jerome

Reason for the question mark over Olsson is because obviously Swansea have supposedly bid for him. Will we see a return for Seb Bassong as well? I doubt it personally, not in this game at least.

Every time I predict us to win we seem to drop points, so I'm gonna say 1-1. But in the back of my mind I think we'll win 2-1.

Ruddy; Martin ©, Cuellar, Turner, Olsson; Whittaker, Johnson; Redmond, Hooper, Lafferty; Jerome.

Subs: Rudd (GK),Grabban, Hoolahan, E Bennett, Murphy, Bassong, McGrandles.

That is a weird lineup. Where have all our centre mids gone?

Wos gorn on? O'Neil injured? Whittaker as CM or Olsson on the wing? Reminds me of the failed 'experimental' teams when NA took over from Hughton.

This is a strange call. The club website has confirmed Whittaker and Bradders in holding roles. Although last week they all took turns to attack. AN can know virtually nothing about Brentford so he is setting up a team he sees appropriate,

Nothing if not original. If Neil can find a more effective role for Whittaker then that's promising. He's a decent footballer but looks suspect at right back these days. If he does well in a central role means we can utilise his other attributes and rely more on Russ at right back. Interesting. Bassong on the bench as well

We did acquire Whittaker for his versatility but we haven't seem him much in midfield. Let's see what he has to offer.
