Distinct lack of gloating

Not being from Norwich I have little understanding of the bragging rights, but typically, I have observed a fair bit of gloating secondary to victory in the East Anglian derby.

Of course you cant really pick up much from an internet forum, but it doesnt seem as if anyone is taking the usual delight in having beaten Ipswich.

1. Is this accurate to say?

2. Why do you think this is?  Is it because we've beaten them 3 times this season so its become a bit 'samey'? Is it because there is a fair gulf in the fortunes of the two clubs in recent times and it just doesnt seem like cricket to put the boot in? Is it because we've moved on quickly to focus on the important game coming up? Or is it simply that by gloating people feel they might fall harder on Monday?

To be honest, it seems like most of their fans are in hiding. Its like they realised just how foolish they looked gobbing off about how all the pressure was on us.

It all seemed a bit like just a means to an end, with the real prize being on Monday. It was for nothing if we don't win, and I think the Ipswich fans are poised to revel in our defeat, if it happens.

So I don't feel like crowing about anything, just yet!

It's getting a bit boring isnt it, we expect to beat them and we do, 5 wins and draw from the last 6 matches, and the draw was only because ruddy spilt it, there's just a huge gulf in class between to the 2 sqauds, and I don't think any of our fans really expected any other result

To be honest I think it's because most of us are completely focused on this game against Boro. If we'd have played Ipswich in the final and beaten them then all hell would've broke lose by now.

Yeah it's a big derby victory but we've got bigger things to think about now.

mix of us expecting to beat them, and the fact it will feel like we lost the derby if we lose on monday.  Scum fans will try to have bragging rights over a completely random team beating us instead of them. 

last saturday was going to be impossible to brag about, because scum fans instantly just reply "yeh your team cost 10023443x more than ours did so of course you should beat us'

Think that perhaps there might be some gloating now...     especially after the Ipswich fans antagonising Norwich fans prior to the final

What I remember is a comment on the pinkun a few years back (before the 4-1/5-1 season) that in the only tie between the two sides which REALLY mattered, the 85 semi, Norwich won.

Now we can add another tie to that list...

Apparently some Norwich fans took a break in their train journeys en route to Wembley today to spend an hour wandering around Ipswich. If that is not gloating not sure what is.

It's brilliant They constantly talk about how obsessed we apparently are with them, and yet just on the first page on that forum there are 7 or 8 topics about us, and in pretty much all of them we are labelled 'Budgies'.

I can't speak for anyone else but I don't think I've even thought about Ipswich since we played them last week. They need to let go a little bit.

Not looked at TWTD myself but I find the whole Budgies thing absurd. Not even original - I thought it was the bitter Colchester brethren that started it.

Why they think substituting a larger more aggressive bird is in some way insulting I can not fathom.

I can't speak for anyone else but I don't think I've even thought about Ipswich since we played them last week. They need to let go a little bit. 

They werent even on our radar when we were in the Premier League. We generally moved beyond them. As we have again. Nice to pop in on though for a flying visit for nostalgias sake

Just shows how deeply ingrained their inferiority complex runs. Despite promotion they have to strike out. They know in their hearts a clubs central goal is to win major trophies. This leads to uncomfortable soul searching for every scum fan. The result is a utter hatred of us. For it infuriates them that we can brush of their temporary league elevation as we operate on a higher plain of success.

I'm all for supporting your team, and proclaiming the team you support is the best team in the world.

But some of their logic / reasoning really is tenuous at best.

Most of them gobbing off weren't actually alive during their succesful period!
