Dean Smith in the chair ahead of Birmingham cup tie. Giannoulis out for a minimum of 8 weeks with ligament damage. Ouch.
DS: “Dimi will be out for a minimum of eight weeks. “It’s a ligament injury, so he’s going to see a specialist and we’ll know more from there.”
Smith references Sorensen as a backup option for the left-back position.
Smith confirms that Gabriel Sara will have his first start for
#ncfc tomorrow night.
DS: “Kieran Dowell will be involved tomorrow.”
Byram is back on the grass after a setback. Jonathan Rowe is a stress-related injury. No timeframe given. Hanley back from suspension.
DS: “If you get the performance level right you get wins. We’re not far away from that.”
DS: “Last week at Cardiff we never created enough from midfield. Saturday it was more of a single pivot, with Sorensen deeper and Kenny more advanced. We need to move the ball quicker.”
DS: “Villa will allow Ramsey to play in the cup for us, but we’re still waiting on clearance for the FA. He’ll certainly get minutes with us this season.”
Adam Idah available tomorrow? DS: “I’m not sure. He had to have some fluid taken off his knee last week. If he is available to train today then he might be available.”
DS: “Birmingham have had a good start. They looked good against Huddersfield and I expect them to change a lot of players as well.”
DS: “I feel like we got up and running on Saturday. We had 6 attacking players on the pitch at the end, we were going full out trying to win the game. We even had Kenny at right-back.”
Smith wants to get through to the next round of the
@Carabao_Cup. He expects stick from the Birmingham fans.
DS: “Isaac is moving along really well. There’s no swelling on the knee so we expect him back in the next three or four weeks.”
On penalty decision… DS: “I’ve just filled in my match report for the referee and I’ve asked for an explanation. It’s a reckless tackle and he’s out of control. You only have to look at Max’s shin.”
