According to various sources on Twitter, and Talksport. Not usually reliable but I'm confident this has substance.

Michael Bailey thinks so too.

Would make me think the deal to bring in Ignasi Miquel has possibly faltered. #ncfctransfer

Goodness me, it sounds like the Jos Hooiveld move could well be a goer. Season-long loan from Southampton. #ncfctransfer

I've been saying since the day that I launched this forum one month and one day ago that I really want us to sign a decent left footed centre back to replace Bassong, and Hooiveld is left footed.

Hallelujah!! (if true).

Perhaps Miquel wanted too much in wages? (He is also left-footed, CB).

People on twitter don't sound too impressed, including Michael Bailey, but he's left footed - is difficult to find decent left footed defenders. We have four right footed centre backs (Cuellar, Turner, Martin, Bennett),I'd be very worried if we had to use Whittaker at left back again, with no natural left footers in that back four at all.

Somebody on here said that Bennett is left footed recently, I don't think he is though? Even if he is, he's injured...

Still only a rumour, but it's getting more positive:

Would imagine this is dead in the water now Miquel has signed.

Still being reported on SSN
Yeah I saw that just now. Would be surprised if we signed him as well as Miquel - we already have Cuellar, Bennett, Turner and Martin. Even if Martin gets moved out to right back, four CBs (plus Bassong and Gafaiti) seems a little excessive!

Could be getting him in for a while to cover Bennett.

We don't have to sign Hooiveld tonight, can sign him on a 90 day loan when the loan window opens. Only has to be tied up tonight if it is a season long loan I believe.

I wouldn't mind tying up Natalie Sawyer on a season long loan

You can do what you like with Kate Abdo, don't rate her at all

Confirmed on a season's loan. In other news, Becchio to Rotherham on loan until January 1.

Surprised to see both him and Miquel sign, considering though we only really had Martin, Turner and Bennett in that position a few weeks ago, and now we also have Cuellar, Miquel and Hooiveld. Southampton fans though are saying that he's a very good defender at this level, so I'm pleased with this.

Should we consider the lack of an incoming right back and the arrival of two centre backs tonight to be confirmation that Russell Martin will be our first choice right back going forward?

I think so.

I'm sure Adams will say he just wanted more options though.

I hope so, that would make me extremely happy.

Great cover and when I saw Hooiveld in the Championship, thought he looked extremely good.

Hopefully. Whilst I don't think he's been bad at centre back I'd much prefer to see him at right back.

That said though, I think we will continue to see Martin in the middle for a while yet.
