Pink'un getting a new forum...

The pinkun forum got ridiculous years ago, and you literally had to cut through swathes of idiocy to get to any decent debate. I left there for about two years after the whole "Worthy in / out" debate.There are still good posters on there, and I will likely drop in, but this place is vastly superior.

And, as previously said, the true test will be their commitment to moderation. It will be interesting to see how many people are left once they cull the idiots, multiple accounts and trolls!

Very, very amusing that they are panic upgrading though, after all these years of people going on and on about the forum basic functionality!

Your pinkun persona was MUCH different than the one on here.

I agree that this site, now found after a personal recomendation, is a far more pleasant enviroment.

Post are kept to topic without the numerous nasty points scoring.

I think, very much, that people sometimes become a product of their environment unfortunately. I only ever wanted to discuss football on there, but don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to paint myself as some poor victim, I gave plenty out too. But it all just got so tedious, I literally couldn't post anything without some idiot having a go. I guess because I am fairly outspoken and strong willed it perhaps made me a target? Also people saw the post count, and whined on about how I must have no life as I had made 20k+ posts in 13 years. I had a barely literate American stalker that would just post abusive tripe to me, and even someone who used to give me crap, because at one point I supported Roeder (yeah, sorry) Oh and some guy that wanted me to bet my house against his, that we would get relegated last season, and pops up occasionally to remind me how I bottled the bet lol.

The place had become a joke, and people went out of their way to make divisive factions, and so many people had so many old issues and axes to grind, that they would pop up, out of the blue and start giving you grief, because you couldn't see their point of view 7 years ago.

In short, it was time for a change from there a long time ago, but there really wasn't a viable alternative. Now there is

I, like you, got fed up with the "quote from 7 years ago" type posts that had no relevance to the here and now.

With the exception of the PUP's post, I rarely go on the Pink Un message board these days. It just became a means for personal point scoring, rather than reasoned debate.

One poster I spoke to in person recently said that he actually "enjoyed winding posters up" (his exact words) on there.

When I asked him, "doesn't that stifle the debate?" his reply was "So what".

With that kind of mentality (and I would add that this gentleman is in his senior years) is it any small wonder posters are leaving in their droves?

I think Morty has raised a sad and relevant point.   I too found myself drawn into nonsense arguments sometimes against my better judgement.  Someone would have a go or post such inflammatory rubbish that I found myself embroiled in an argument.  It was weakness or impulsiveness on my part to get involved but I never felt better about myself after.  I walked away in the end and haven't opened the PinkUn forum for many months.  I'm not going to browse or even contact those posters I liked who are not yet on here.  It's over.

I enjoy the atmosphere on here and am happy to stay.

The integrity of the Pink'Un is compromised by the inconsistency of the moderation and the fact that banned posters - like me - can simply set up a new gmail account and carry on where they left off.

We banned one infamous Pink'un troll within about a week of launching, by at least two possible three IP addresses. That itself is probably the equivalent of banning 50 accounts, as that user was well known for creating multiple identities  :lol:

He went straight back to the Pink'un with a new account. 

That in my mind is really the biggest issue with the Pink'un, like Warren said, nobody has ever truly been banned on that forum because it only takes a new email address to create a new account. Admittedly all it would take for a troll on this forum is to go and buy a half decent smartphone for what.... £80?

The Pink'un will be addressing that with their new forum software presumably.

I actually enjoy reading posts on here. I don't consider myself to be any sort of football expert but am keen to strengthen my understanding of the game through reasoned argument. I enjoy debate and don't feel inhibited from expressing my views on here, which is a sign of a good site.

I must admit that I'm amazed that the site hasn't degenerated into a hi-tech Pink'un, well done to the moderators for preventing this & long may it continue.

Create a google+ page for it and share it about. As a google platform, it weighs considerably in terms of the ranking. Also links to the page from Norwich blogs will help.

I came straight over here as soon as I knew this place existed. The pinkun is a frustrating troll filled, petty, joke of a board, but it was all there really was so I persevered. Many of the sane, good posters from there are now here though which is nice, I hope Ricardo and Purple find their way at some point.

I'm loving this place, the tone of website and posters is spot on, feels like an online community.

Can I just say my biggest gripe, and what makes me miss out on truly contributing to all the subjects on this board, is the lack of link to other forum subjects on the Norwich city forum page. Having to click out to the football boards then onto another subject area to change is a bit jarring and frustrating in this day and age.
