There weren't exactly many proven Premier League strikers for sale so I'm pretty happy with Mbokani. Glenn Murray would have been okay but I think the added pace and power Mbokani will bring will make him the better signing.
My overall opinion on our strikers really depends on where Grabban's head is at. If he's back and ready to fight for a position then I'm very happy. If he's in the development squad waiting for a move in Jan then I think we're quite a bit weaker. Only time will tell.
As for the strikers we've reportedly been in for the only one I'm really disappointed on missing out on is Afobe. Hopefully we won't let go of that in January.

Just going back to Bradley's depature and apologies if someone mentioned this a few days back but...
Weren't we apparently told by McNally that after we got relegated we got more enquiries for Johnson from Prem teams than any other player?

It would not surprise me if it were true about Johnson. I remember Bob Paisley saying that the player he had the most enquiries and admiration in his time as Liverpool manager was Ray Kennedy, not the first name mentioned when naming the great Liverpool era.

So, sad as I was to see Bradley go, certain passages of play from our midfield against Bournemouth made it quite clear why we could afford to sell him. The balance, width and fluidity we had with Redmond, Jarvis and Brady on the pitch was notable. And when we withdrew Hoolahan we replaced him with Dorrans, who is more solid than Hoolahan and only mildly less creative. I didn't see any signs of damaged morale either.

Basically...Hoolahan, Howson, Dorrans, Brady, Redmond and Jarvis all have a touch (or more) of finesse to their game.

I think that's a bit harsh, he had a few games last season where he was spraying balls all over the place - hence the nickname 'Norfolk Pirlo', and scored a few goals last season which if in this division would have been lauded as "worldies" on MOTD.
He is just too slow for this league in the role(s) that he would have been required to play, Alex Neil pretty much said it himself, just not quick enough to play down the left in this league and that's why he brought in Jarvis.
And there will probably be games this season where we'll look back and miss having a bit of a hard man, although hopefully not too many, the game has moved on somewhat.
Lack of pace was probably his downfall. He'll be a great asset to Derby County though, clearly a top Championship player.

In terms of attitude on the pitch I think Mulumbu will be the one to step up and replace Bradders. Really do hope he's back sooner rather than later, we'll need him on form during that November-December run in.

Agree. Makes you wonder whether (with this singing) shipping out BJ was a formal plan rather than opportunism? Surely Mulumbu must be close to coming back?

4-6 weeks away from playing, as of last week's presser. His foot is pretty much healed but there's obviously rehab to do.

Well he'll certainly be picking one up next week, by design if he manages to not get one naturally. With that he'll miss the League Cup game.

Yeah, he played some decent passes but most can when they're given time and space. But that's not the kind of stuff I'm talking about.
I'm talking about close passing in tight situations. When you're surrounded by defenders and you need a good touch, quick feet and a quick brain to link up with your team mates. We saw it on Saturday between Brady, Hoolahan, Jarvis and Howson. Johnson is simply not good enough in those types of situations.
