I agree you can't compare him with GH in terms of the leadership contribution GH made to our team.  If you put that to one side, I do rate him higher than GH as a striker, but it's just opinion.

One of the things I love about Jerome is the way he harries defenders - look at the recent goal he scored by intercepting a pass by the goalie to a defender.  When was the last time we had a striker with the speed and commitment to do that ?  Another recent one I remember was a long ball which the defender should've controlled but he mistimed it and Jerome was in there and unstoppable.  That one was similar to a goal GH scored against the scum, but Jerome's pace means he puts defenders under pressure in more situations.

I was just thinking back over our strikers since Dean Ashton.  GH is a club legend so if we put him to one side, I can't think of anyone else since Ashton who'd match up to Jerome as he's playing this season.

Some players are so worthy because of their value to the team irrespective of their ability etc. Ask older posters about Hockey, Forbes, Channon etc. Grant Holt was one. Apart from the amount of goals he scored, many were exciting. But those apart, his arrival at the club, although getting off to a remarkably bad start, not only inspired and galvanised the rest of the squad, it lifted the crowd. We had a new hero, a talisman that we hadn't had since Iwan and Hucks. Drury was a great man for this club, but get a striker with nous, a willingness to walk a tightrope with the laws of the game, and an ego to match and the crowd is spellbound.

His worth to the club is enormous.

Cameron Jerome has shown that he prefers playing football on the deck. He was wasted at Stoke and Birmingham because they played the long ball. He was lost on Saturday for the same reason. I doubt he will ever be in the same league with NCFC supporters as Holt because of the difference in ego and personality.

How can you not?

Scored the goals to get us out of League 1, scored the goals to get us out of the Championship and then scored the goals to keep us in the Premier League.

Hard to think of many Norwich players who have had such a massive impact.

I thought that would get you all going ! holt was great for us but I don't feel he has an affinity with the club in the same way other players previously have. I dont think he cares about the club like Iwan or Hucks do, he wasn't as good as either of them either. don't get me wrong,he was good for us at that time ( don't forget one season was league 1 standard ) but I will never think of him in the same way that I think of Crook, Sutton, Hucks, Stringer, Forbes etc.

to me he is just just an ex Norwich player that has moved on, nothing more than that.

Good point. Grant Holt gave his best for his employers. But the ego of the man said it was more about him than us.
