While Arsenal and Chelsea were fun when they came
Neither did us much good at all,
In our situation no sort of Cup game
Can compensate for a League fall
It´s the bread and butter matches which will show
Just how we have fared come this May,
Particularly against other teams who are low
Or scrapping for points that will pay
And already so many points have been lost
Which would have been good for our cause,
And January might yet have a bigger cost
If notables(*) leave through the doors
(*) one in particular
Young Mr. Maddison is naturally the name
On many people´s lips and minds,
Since that Tottenham youngster came to lay a claim
I fear it may augur poor signs
Our slight forward motion attained recently
And feelings that ´possibly we might´,
Should not fool anyone, after today´s spree
For a top berth, our squad is too light.
