We seem to be being linked with target men which itself is interesting. Journos filling the gaps with offerings from their rabid imaginations or something in this?

I just cant seem to get excited about this link, though he had a good scoring record in Belgium (less a Mulumbu recommendation and perhaps a VOO recommendation?) the prospect of a significant fee for a 29 year old who has never played in England before and was only a bit part for his current team just fills me with uncertainty.  

At least Gestede is accustomed to English football, but again Im not overly keen for that one to happen either.

Not sure what I want really. Just find myself not very excited about the potential new signings, when previously i was very excited about the prospect of Fer, RvW, Quagliarella and Alderweireld

before any deal can be done, Kiev have to finish paying for him, Anderlecht still owed money, their equivlent of McNally flying out their to get it sorted.

Ricky took part in pre season training and games last season so I wouldn't read into that much. Does obviously give him the chance to go out and impress. 

Mbokani and Vadis share the same agent [if transfermarkt is to be trusted]. Doubt it means much but it's almost interesting.

Its hard to imagine Alex Neil not wanting to form his own opinion of RvW. He gave Bassong a clean slate, unless the board have told Neil that for financial reasons Ricky will be being moved on I cant imagine Neil deferring to anyone else's judgement on him. Without knowing what was going to happen with St Etienne's option its perhaps something he's not spent too much time thinking about. Its going to be an issue for him though. Will he become our new Becchio?

What is interesting is how quickly his mind was made up on Lafferty (perhaps knew straight away wrong type of striker for his system like when Rogers inherited Andy Carroll and got rid straight away) and how there was no experimentation with Becchio. Does that suggest he has listened to the opinions of others?

Would still love to know why Becchio never got a proper shot - he must have been terrible in training...

This season Becchio was like Vadis, didn't play much due to injuries and then once he was back he would have obviously needed games to get up to speed, with our run in and goals that was never going to happen. Not to mention the fact that our other strikers were scoring goals and are almost certainly better than him. As for in the previous season I guess Hughton just felt that Hooper, Wolf and Elmander had a better chance of coming good. I'll always remember that assist for Howson vs West Brom though, what a player.
