Quite liked the look of Bamford, a bit lightweight but a clever player and looked to do the right things. Unlucky not to score and would like to see more of him.

If Redmond is sold in the summer perhaps we will buy Bamford if we go down?

Klose, Howson and O'Neil were utterly superb.

And Bamford's movement is great. Hopefully his first start hasn't come too late.

Not much of a game for the neutral I guess, but agree with all of the comments, was a very good team performance. I thought the back four were great, even the much maligned Russell Martin, and Klose who is really looking the part as an EPL CB. Subs were OK, I got what he was trying to do, although I thought Pinto for Redmond would have been interesting as he has good pace and Martin was having some joy when he could. We did look organised and worked so hard, would like us to have taken more risks and gone for the win a bit more, but thats me being picky and that point might turn out to be crucial! There is a chance of survival, it's slim, but keep organised and committed like that and it is possible.....3 points next week now and I will really start to believe again, but it needs 3 points no less.

Even though we were playing Man City I don't think Martin had too much to defend against.

But he did alright.

Proud of the lads today. Neil's gameplan worked as well. If only Dorrans had taken a touch (or it had fallen to someone else).

Howson, Klose, Olsson first half, O Neill, Redders, Hoolahan, Bamford, Bennett. Should be proud.

Dorrans passing backwards instead of forwards too often.

Martin not good enough.

Jarvis looked like needed gametime to get match fit.

Ruddy still worried me.

Jerome and Mbokani might still be out there trying to threaten the goal.

Good performance, could've snatched it.

The crowd around me turned after Dorrans replaced Redders & he started passing backwards instead of forwards.

Bring it on!

Oddly, I think I'd be happier if we'd got nothing out of this. Now I'm going to spend all week wondering whether we can take three from West Brom and be all disappointed when we don't show up and come away with nothing.

Jamie Redknapp and Thierry Henry were talking about Bamford being a potential hero for us before the game and being our Tevez, I wanted some of what they'd been smoking.

But he did actually look dangerous considering his huge lack of games, and I'd go with him for the rest of the season, looked far more likely to score than Jerome or Mbokani have in recent weeks.

I struggle to think of why Bamford hasn't seen more first team action for us. His movement is really clever, he tries to do the right things on the ball and he's a threat. AN made a big thing about saying how much he rated him and wanted to get him here and then hasn't used him up until now.

You can't say it's a lack of fitness because he was happy to play an unfit Naismith.

Felt he was a bit isolated at times. Hoolahan wasn't really having an impact.

Don't think I'm going to get my hopes up too much as it's not the first time this season that we've performed well against one of the big teams. Usually this sort of game is followed by everyone starting to believe that we can pull ourselves away from the bottom 3, only for us to then lose to a team in the bottom half of the table the week after. I suppose though today was the first time for a while that our hard work and graft has paid off with a result against one of the top sides.

Very well-earned point today, couldn't really ask for anything more from the players and Neil set us up well. We defended resolutely throughout, keeping Aguero/Silva pretty quiet, and overall we probably had the better chances. Frustrating really that Dorrans chose to hit the ball first time with that chance towards the end, rather than taking a touch and lining it up properly. Nevertheless though we took a point, and considering that I didn't expect to get anything I'm not too bothered, although it has to be said Manchester City were nowhere near their best today.

I thought Howson was our Man of the Match for the 3rd game in a row, though as others have said O'Neil and Klose were both excellent as well. Bamford also had an impressive first half, before noticeably tiring in the 2nd. The main negative to come out of today is the injury to Redmond. Hopefully it's not too serious as he's found his form again recently and has almost become the most effective player in our attack. Also hoping that Naismith and in particular Brady are able to return next game. Frustrating how suddenly we seem to have quite a few first team players suffering with injuries, after having hardly any real injury problems all season.

Now come on boys, we desperately need to actually start building on these positive performances against big teams. Our run of 5 'winnable' games starts on Saturday against West Brom, and we can't afford to return to our habit of not turning up in the '6 pointers'.

Its Newcastle's 2 games in hand which concern me, despite how well the lads did yesterday, a win was vital.

I think sadly that Dorrans level is The Championship. He was never the same after the Family Tragedy

Dorrans would be a hell of a lot better playing in his natural position but we have about 5 guys ahead of him in behind the striker.

Whilst on the ball Dorrans wasn't particularly effective, his defensive contributions were excellent. He blocked/stopped crosses on numerous occasions down that left hand side, and he also worked hard when we didn't have possession. Yes he should've hit the target with the chance towards the end, but overall I certainly don't think he had a bad game.

Dorrans effort on goal was disappointing but overall his play was good;   he certainly gave olsson excellent cover at left back (olsson could learn from dorrans on where a left back should be defending) and played his part in a grafted point

I wondered whether pinto was the better sub option - but in hindsight he did make us more secure,

Totally agree. Dorrans was getting a lot of unfair/harsh criticism. And although he looked a little rusty he got stuck in.

Just needed that chance to fall to Howson.

I personaly dont care about that goal scoring opportunity and his positioning was okay, but he overplayed quite many times and caused panic in our defence because of that and had at least 4 poor pass or clearance in dangerous positions.

That is just something we can't afford and what has costed us so many points already this season.

Funny that Olsson was mentioned when praising Dorrans as he almost single handedly defended against 2 players while we crowded middle. While he wasn't effective as normaly bringing the ball up he had very solid performance in other end.

I don't think anyone let us down really, a few mistakes but they don't matter when they don't go punished. Can't grumble at the work rate and effort, we got a point that we didn't expect, and I suspect that most people are a little bit more optimistic just because of the clean sheet. Lack of goals remains a worry though.
