I simply don't believe we will beat Villa.

If the players don't put in a huge performance and really play for their manager here, then the reaction of the home fans will seal his fate. The fans are all in the mood to send a big message to the board.

28 point from 33 from teams below villa,  2 from 27 from those above;   its a must win game for me.

Whoever the manager picks, we have to see more effort, guts, drive, desire, responsibility and commitment to be want to win, be first to the ball and then show their class when they have it.  The midfield have to win the ball back,  and that does not mean leaving that just to mulumbu if he starts.

Bruce will make them physical;  time for experience I think, so I would go with

               Ruddy

Pinto Martin Klose Olsson

       Mulumbu Dorrans

Howson   Pritchard  Brady

            Oliveira

And FFS some discipline;  from Pinto & Olsson to ensure that when one of them bombs forward the other stays back so we have a defence, likewise from Mulumbu & Dorrans,  one to stay deep at all times and brady howson to support defensively too.

I think the fans can send as big a message to the board as they like, Canaryboy, and it won´t make much difference, the board will continue to give him as long as is humanly possible.  I´m sure they can remember the situation with Hughton, when the fans ultimately forced their hand and got him sacked, (and how we could do with him right now),and that´s a situation they´re reluctant to see repeated. Just my take on it, and most of you won´t agree with them I´m sure, but sometimes the devil you know, is better than the devil you don´t know. Mid-season managerial shifts can be just as much of a gamble as sticking with what you already have. For every A. Villa and Derby, there´s a QPR and a Wolves. Burnley stuck with Sean Dyche, despite relegation, and look where they are now.

I have been banging this drum for a long time now, the very best outcome here is that Alex Neil sorts things out, there are absolutely no guarantees with changing managers. But it is a results based business, and sooner or later, regardless of the boards plan or intentions, they will be forced to act.

Can´t argue with any of that morty, and naturally the board will have to act at some time if results don´t improve, but firstly, for fans to suggest that the current predicament is solely down to Neil, and secondly, that any sort of managerial change will put everything right, is a sad misconception of reality, and, as you say, far from guaranteed.  Certainly Neil is partly responsible, but as far as I can see from my overseas perch, far too many of our players just aren´t up for the battle that this league demands, are still living in their Premier League past, and are just going through the motions every weekend, which makes them just as culpable. Until that changes, I doubt any new manager will have much success, unless they get in someone who they are all really terrified of, which doesn´t really fit with the ´Smith and Jones School of Appointments´ - Chris Hughton, Neil Adams, and now Alex Neil, to name but the latest three.

I´m sure the board can see what a lot of us can see, at least those who´re not paid up members of the ´Neil Out´ club, that he is by no means solely to blame for our miserable form. My guess is that they´ll give him at least until Jan 1st, whether results improve or not. If they don´t  by then, then perhaps some action might be taken, but if they do, however slight, then I think he´ll be given until the end of the season.

Incidentally, although not to be recommended too often, his recent public slating of the players, is, I think, fully justified, time will tell whether it works for or against him.

Can't disagree with one word of that!

This is very worth a watch!

Agreed - and I´m glad Davitt, for a change, is prepared to shift the focus from Alex Neil onto the players, when dishing out some blame. So often players are somehow seen as being protected species in situations like this, when in many cases (most, in fact)  they are the ones to cause a manager´s downfall.

The fans have seen this and its good to see first mulumbu and now the manager recognise the players part in this and for the reporters to finally latch on.

If Naismith is fit I suspect he may start in Pritchards position in my proposal above,   I have a feeling he may be saved for the tougher game on Friday.

Interesting you should say that, I think tonight´s will be tougher   ;)  - Huddersfield have had a few iffy results lately ( 1 win in 6) and don´t seem quite as strong as earlier in the season.

This'll be the first game I've been able to see since Leeds about 6 weeks ago! Typically I was at a wedding last week so missed the Brentford game (of all the f*cking games to miss :D ) and have only been able to vaguely keep track of the away games we've had.

Extra bit of importance for me this as my flatmate is a Villa fan, and so if we do lose I'll be in for non-stop abuse until we have a chance to redeem ourselves.

I just have no confidence in the players or the manager at the moment though. I really can't see a way that Neil can turn this around.

Team: Ruddy; Pinto, Bennett, Klose, Olsson; Howson, Mulumbu; Jacob, Hoolahan, Brady; Oliveira.

Don't really understand why Wes is struggling to even get on the pitch at the moment let alone start. Pritchard has been doing well but with the exception of the Brentford game (which I did admitedly miss) I don't think he's done insanely well.

Just can't see a win here, think with the way Villa are playing the most likely outcome is a 1-0 away win.
