Pretty happy with that half. We've looked in the ascendancy since we scored and Pritchard was really unlucky not to make it 2-0 with that volley. Need to get another goal in the 2nd half though as I do not trust us to see out a 1-0. Think Lewis has looked good so far and Trybull and Tettey makes us that bit more solid. Come on now Norwich lets get 3 points.

Don't wanna jinx it, but it is absolutely crucial we don't concede just after half time.

Cracking goal! Managed to find a decent stream, as being a massive plastic, and not at the game today!

I too found a good stream at HT.  Very pleased with that victory.  I know Brum aren't the best team in the world, but we still had to go out there and do the business.  " goals was good, and if it hadn't been for Stockwell, imo, there would have been several more.  Good to see Murphy get one, although I still feel he's a bit lightweight.  Don't feel Nelson wants to be here anymore, so I really hope we go for another striker in January even if it's a loan job.  Only disappointment was seeing Pritchard limping off down the tunnel at the end, with an ice pack strapped to his right foot.  Hope it's nothing serious.  Well done City, we needed those 3 points!

Very good display today, plenty of positives. Jamal Lewis at left back the biggest for me, you would never have known it was his full debut. Composed and strong, and showed a good understanding down the left with Murphy, who also was excellent. Perhaps not having home fans around you baying for your blood did him good?

The two DM's worked well, but I am not convinced we should be playing them at home.

Oliviera looked a lot better today.

Pritchard and Maddison, excellent as ever!

Thank f*ck for that. Couldn't follow the game due to incredibly tedious spending time with in-laws duty.

Must follow it up with more good results.

Yeah good performance and we deserved the 2-0 win. Though it does have to be said Birmingham are a very poor side and it's not hard to see why they're bottom of the league. Their tactics literally seemed to be shoot on sight, as every time they got within 30 yards of our goal they'd just let fly without even thinking about trying to move the ball forward, and the result was 18 shots but just 2 on target. They made our attacking performance against Brentford look as if we were Manchester City :D

We played well today. Up until we scored we weren't amazing but unlike recent weeks I felt like we had the quality to break them down at some point, which of course we did (although to be fair some of that will be down to the opposition). After that we controlled the game which was good to see. Even at 1-0 we looked relatively comfortable but to get a 2nd and kill the game which we don't tend to do made a nice change.

Pritchard and Maddison both immense, and actually looked like they had set roles. Pritchard was the main architect and responsible for doing the 'heavy lifting' in attacking areas, with Maddison's main job to try and move us up the pitch and get the ball to Pritchard when he could, before taking up a threatening position himself. It makes a change as most of the season Maddison has been tasked with being our main creative outlet, but now with Pritchard back his role has changed slightly and I think it's made us better for it (or at least it did today). Pritchard is brilliant though, great finish for the goal and a lovely pass for the 2nd. Josh Murphy was better today. Still pulled out of a couple of challenges and had the odd moment where I wondered what he was trying to do, but in general he was improved. He worked hard defensively as well which was good to see, and took his goal very nicely. Tettey and Trybull certainly add some solidity in our midfield, so great to have them back. As for Jamal Lewis, I was really impressed. Very composed on the ball and did a really good job defensively up against Jota. Suddenly we seem to have plenty of left back options, which many including myself said was our weakest position at the beginning of the season, with Lewis returning from injury, Stiepermann doing a decent job here so far, and Husband having improved a fair bit since that Millwall game. One thing I would say which really frustrated me today, was Zimmermann's and particularly Klose's passing was absolutely shocking, and against a better side I think we would've been punished. The amount of simple passes Klose completely got wrong was far far too many.

Have to make this win count now. Burton seemed to play well today against Leeds however they still lost so that makes him 8 straight losses for them at home. We can't afford to do the typical Norwich thing and allow them to break that run. We need to build on this, and to be honest can't afford to get less than 6 points from these next 2 games. It's the perfect start today though.

Delighted we won but it's hard to take too much from it because Birmingham were comfortably one of the worst teams i've seen play Championship football yesterday. There wasn't even an attempt to try and create, players were just shooting from 30 yards irrespective of options around them. I certainly don't think those Birmingham players were playing for their manager - it's not difficult to see why they've actually managed to score fewer goals than us.

The best aspect of the game was Jamal Lewis who looked very comfortable. Great opportunity to make that LB position his own.

Oh stop looking for excuses as to why we won, decent teams can still easily lose to "lesser" teams below them in the league  ;)

Oh of course better teams can lose to lesser teams, especially in this league, but Birmingham looked very poor from the off and without a manager change at least, they ain't staying in this league.

Our performance was good. But no more than that. Trybull unfortunately doesn't look as good as he did during that run so I suspect he may be rotated with Reed / Vrancic more often.

My team prediction before had Reed in place of Trybull, Reed is the only player to come away with any credit from the other night.

It wasn't so much about the result, it was all the smaller things. The clean sheet, Oliviera was much better, Pritchard could have had at least 2 more goals, positionally I think Maddison was slightly deeper, I have felt that in recent games that they both want to occupy the same bit of grass. Jamal Lewis obviously, but more importantly the boost it gave Murphy, the two worked very well together and brought out the best in each other. A fully firing Murphy has to be good news for everybody, he is now our top scorer. Pinto looked back to his best too, he had a bit of a stinker the other night.

And most of all a win that will give the whole team a confidence boost. And of course only time will tell, but it could be the catalyst for another good run. Also we're a few points closer to overtaking the blue scum again.

Birmingham also serve as a timely reminder as to what can happen to a Championship club that sells out to foreign owners who seem to know absolutely nothing about how football works.

There are good and bad English owners. Same as there are good and bad foreign owners.

Birmingham may be a reminder of a bad one but there are plenty of good ones.

More likely Morty, Birmingham serve as a timely reminder not to appoint Rednapp as a manager at any price!
