Farke has been here for four years, Cantwell knows what is expected. If he isn’t doing things correctly then he doesn’t play. Shame, but you can’t make exceptions
100% agree. There needs to be discipline, and players need to put the effort in. It is bad for morale if a player just coasts, and still expects to get in the team. We used to have a bit of a reputation of being Costa del Colney.

I don't get why people still think the problem is with Farke. All the (admittedly unverified) info coming from inside the club indicates Cantwell is behaving like a child who is sulking 'cos he didn't get his own way (ie a move). Other clubs will be watching this situation and thinking 'oh, he's a bit of a diva, don't want him'. It's a no win for everybody.

Presumably that's what Cantwell wants too, otherwise he'd be trying like hell to get back into the first team squad.

You're a manager who has someone on your team who "is sulking because he didn't get his own way"
How do you handle it, bearing in mind that you want the team member to be his best and the team to be successful?

If he wants away, he'll never be at his best, therefore the only solution is to sell in Jan. If DF gets the elbow before then, it may be that Cantwell will have alienated the dressing room anyway, so the end result may end up the same. Who the hell knows.

Yeah, uncertainties all round at the moment.
I can't help feeling that it would be better to manage the situation in a way that our best players are on the pitch.

Although not in football, I have been in that situation. Most establishments have protocols in place that must be followed. This may involve suspension or temporary transfer to another department. The first thing to find out is how the issue is affecting that individual and their performance and attempt to help/support them. If that person is convinced they are in the right and that nothing you say/do will convince them otherwise there's not a lot you can do. You have to decide if their continued presence within the team is right for both parties. If that person has made their problem known to the rest of the team their views also have to be taken into consideration. If the situation cannot be resolved amicably via offering help/support and discussion etc then the most likely outcome is that the person will be transferred out of the team. Obviously football is different in that players are often more valuable to their employers than the team manager. Re Cantwell .... most people seem to be assuming it's Farke who is the problem but the real issue may be Cantwell's attitude.

The best thing that can happen in this situation is we start winning. There could be a little bit of bribery / power play going on here with Cantwell implying that if he was in the team we would be winning more games, trying to put Farke under pressure.

Cantwell not being in the team, yet another excuse to get rid of Farke. Clown.

All valid points Numan and Morty.
I certainly don't know the full story, probably few do, I just wish as one of our better players he was on the pitch being effective.
If he gets sold then need to make sure we get the best price for him to bring in a quality player.

Neither of those things seem to be happening at the moment, right when we desperately need
*) a decent player
*) money to buy a decent player.

Good team. Delighted to see no Sargeant.

Really?

That team selection and formation makes little sense in theory..

Here's hoping it makes sense in practice.

Does anyone know what it is that McLean has on Farke?

Kenny Mclean seems to be most people's issue, on the Twitter. Also Gilmour seems to be the best players ever, based on never actually having seen him play in the Premier league.
