Thankfully am still away for this, It is going to be a pretty nervous affair, and it is going to take a very convincing win to satisfy people. The ongoing rumbles about River enders is a side issue that further shortens people's patience.

Things could turn very ugly indeed if things don't go our way...

Manning needs a couple of convincing wins in the next 4 games. If we don't get 8 or 9 points out of the next 12 then I think he should go (along with Knapper with bit of luck!)

Little idea what to expect.
Low scoring game?

If we don't start winning home games then it's curtains for Manning as I really can't see him going into the Xmas period in the bottom 3 and keeping his job.

I hope a 1-0 or a 2-1 but could be the opposite scores just as easily. Bristol are on a poor run of form so we ought to win.

Oh well that must be it for Manning and Knapper!
It was another pretty damning performance and it showed up Manning's tactics. The crowd has turned and I think properly turned.
We looked so devoid of confidence and that for me sits right at the door of the manager. It's his job to instill belief. The recruitment and decision to bring Manning in (for 4 years!) is on Knapper. But ....how the team is playing right now needs urgent change and fresh ideas.

Personally, I would like to see Manning given more time and Knapper given even more money to spend.

First thing I would say is BBC Radio Norfolk are very good post match. They ask hard questions unlike BBC Radio Drivel. I mean Bristol!

As for Mr Manning, his life and soul sucking style of football is not suited to most clubs, particularly clubs with good players who will are told to constantly recycle the ball at the expense of excitement, entertainment and football in general

You will find very few Bristol City fans that have much good to say about him and listening to local radio in Norwich I don’t think there are many Norwich fans!

Norwich City ownership have a choice to make pretty soon I would say as the crowd reaction was there for all to hear.

My thought is Norwich City it’s board and supporters had no idea what they were getting. Nuts!

However most of Bristol thanks you all for the 1.2m you paid to get this bloke.

Good Luck!

Six consecutive home defeats (including the League / Carabou Cup) and the first defeat in 16 years in the most important game of the season so far. Football is allegedly a results business. That means winning results. Manning is a dead man walking. Problem is that he won't walk soon enough. It's time to get rid of him before he can do any more damage.

It’s all getting very reminiscent of the ill fated Roeder reign. A load of random players who seemingly don’t fit any system I can think of along with a poor uninspiring manager

Should never have got shot of JHT...
Nah, just because we’ve chosen a rubbish replacement doesn’t mean Thorup was a particularly good manager.
Although I’m starting to think Fergie would struggle to get a tune out of the players Knapper has given them

I would wager that he would get more out of this group of players, plus we were definitely a lot more fun to watch.

I’m not disputing that, I just don’t think he was that good, just slightly better than what we’ve replaced him with. He’s another one of the new breed of ideological managers who think it’s more important to play a certain style than winning football matches. He’d never do a Worthy and finish a game with 5 strikers on the pitch trying to snatch a late equaliser

Interesting thoughts on Thorup and his 'style' and about the current group of players. I'm remaining in a (diminishing?) camp who thinks we've a few good / decent players. I'm even still a Crnac supporter despite the dog's abuse he gets on the other forum. The one who feels a poor signing is Medic and on other fans forums they did warn he was slow. I'm still to be convinced about Diallo and Forson who appear maybe too slight for the Championship. But we will see. I could see Diallo evolve definitely and we have missed him.

My main gripe remains that this manger isn't getting anywhere near the best out of them. They look so lacking in confidence. Reading Huckerby's comment yesterday and he said something along the lines of "I just get the ball and I'm running at the defender. No question, no second thought, I'm attacking him..." And that's the issue for me...players look fearful of expressing themselves. They play the safest pass - seemingly for fear of losing the ball. That HAS to be a coach thing. McLean was the most adventurous yesterday - but possibly because of his experience. Not that he had a brilliant game. Newer, younger players are yet to find the space (and permission) to express themselves. That's my take. And when I watch and hear the manager I sort of see why.

It's a terrible watch and Knapper has brought in a very safe coach it seems to me...just not in a Norwich City tradition. So, looking back on Thorup does feel a step up. Hell, even Dean Smith looks a step up. I don't believe Manning can change either. I agree with a comment made elsewhere that perhaps he needs a year out of the game to grieve and not try and achieve a difficult process by being a football manager and essentially trying to forget about it by structuring his time that way. Even though that's what people tend to do in life.

I wish him no ill and even feel a bit sorry for players who look better suited to a Thorup team than one of his. I'm convinced they were scouted a year before for Thorup.

But, Manning isn't the right fella for us. And never was. Just what Knapper's 'due diligence ' and lengthy recruitment process told him I don't know. There must have been some flags waving. He looks a troubled bloke in the interviews to me. Everything is downcast...players reflect their boss. Then I look at the likes of Lampard currently and of course I think of Warnock teams and how he set them up in his unique way :)

Sorry to all for a long post. I suppose I've nothing much else to say now at least so better stfu. All I feel I can do personally is just wait and hope that this little phase in Norwich City history is brief and passes over very soon...and using a mixed weather/football metaphor, we get a dramatic change in season soon.
