First proper home game of the season, wish I could be there!

Lots of interesting points to ponder, Oliviera being the biggest one, will he start? Will he feature at all?

Can Maddison continue his fine form, will Hoolahan get a game?

And it will be interesting to see what the Barclay end Norwich have in store for their campaign to improve atmosphere.

I'm going 3-1 to us (I don't think we have a clean sheet in us quite yet!)

Bit worried about what Cattermole might do to Maddison, hope we get a good ref. I believe there will be flags and stuff down the Barclay to help the atmosphere, let's hope everyone gets involved

Agree with you Morty regarding a clean sheet, I doubt we would have eradicated our apparent weakness at set pieces in a few days, plus I am a little worried about Gunn right now.

Its a good test this game against a side with something to prove who will undoubtedly be up for it and well supported.

I can see Nelson on the bench and Hoolahan captaining the side again as thats an effective partnership we Maddison, and even though I personally liked Vrancic in that Fulham game I can see him making way, not sure who for though as still getting familiar with our new squad options.

Add naismith to the fray and we almost have too many attacking options.

Just need to protect that back line at the same time.

Sounds like Naismith may get the nod over Hoolahoop. Bad news that Pritchard is out for 3 months.

Sounds like Farke has done a good job in defusing the whole Oliviera thing.

Don't think I've ever been more absorbed by an interview with a manager as I have this video from yesterday. He gives an 8 minute long, uninterrupted answer to the Nelson Oliveira question, and it is genuinely brilliant to listen to.

Real shame about Pritchard as well. Although the only positive I guess is if we are in a good position come January time then having Pritchard come back into the fold will be like having a new player in. Big if though.

Perhaps just for the last time because we have spoken about Nelson Oliveira in the last days. So this will be my last comment. I was not content with his reaction. I said that after the game. I totally understand when a player is a little bit angry not to be in the XI so I didn’t go too deep with this situation but it was more the behaviour and how it affects the group. That is the reason I did without him for Swindon.

“In general, not mentioning Nelson, it is quite important for each player and each member of the staff or coaching team that you are always aware it is always about the group, about the club. The club is bigger than one single person. I deeply believe this. The club does not have to fall on its knees and kiss the feet of a player or a coach or head coach. Whatever. It is the other way around. Each and every player, member of staff, head coach has to be thankful to be able to be allowed to work for this club.

“It is a great honour to work for Norwich City. It is a massive club, an amazing club. To earn money to play football and work for this club, for this region and this beautiful city. I think we have the best supporters in the Championship with their passion and togetherness. It is a big honour for each employee to work for them and be responsible for the success. You need than in mind each and every day. If there is a guy who thinks more about themselves then I will act.

“I am not here to win the Nobel Peace prize. I am here to bring a certain working style, attitude and hopefully success. You only have success when you work with a special attitude and style. I would rather do without quality and big names to have this. We have such a wonderful group of players. We spoke many times about Russell Martin and Wes Hoolahan. Russell plays with pain and injections at Fulham. There was a risk but he knew we needed him on the pitch. Steven Naismith has nearly 300 Premier League appearances and 60 games or so for the national side. He asked me if he was allowed to play for the U23s. That is the attitude I want. Sometimes if you speak to a young player and ask them to play for the U23s you get the feeling it is a little below their dignity.

When we speak about Alex Tettey it is quite hard not to bring him on the pitch. He works very hard but I decide to start right now with a different player. I have spoken to him and told him I am really content but we are going with Harrison Reed and James Maddison. He said to me, ‘coach I accept it, if I play 90 minutes or nine minutes or no minutes I will accept it and when you need me I will be there and will train as hard as I can’.

“It is about this attitude. That is why they are idols for the whole team. That is why I am convinced that we will have success. Probably we are not the club with the most opportunities to spend money but we have such a good atmosphere in the whole group and that is our real strength. For sure, Nelson knows he made a mistake. He apologised in front of the group and now for me the topic is finished. He has to prove it on the pitch, in the dressing room but for me it is finished.

“It is not only to criticise Nelson. He knows he deserved that but we have to help him as well. He is not the youngest guy but in the last six years he probably had eight clubs so he needs a club where he can learn and have a group of players who can help him. That is my group here. For sure, it is up to him to improve but we will help him.

“We don’t have to speak about his quality or his potential. He just needs to show 100pc passion for the club, not only for himself, and if he does that he is one of the best strikers in the league. We need his quality. We are looking forward to working with him and bring him to that standard. Then we can have much fun together. Not only is he is a guy with much potential but he has a good heart.”

Me too on the Farke love. Early days though.

Not sure him and Oliveira will be doing Christmas cards.

Even though I feel that there has been an over reaction to the Oliveira thing generally, you cant help but be impresed by Daniel Farke. Particularly when considering he is new to being the main man, and even though he was at Dortmund, it was the second string and he was a relatively unknown in Germany......infact I work with many German guys who are mad keen on football and they had never heard of him when I mentioned we have a new coach, also never heard of Zimmerman, looks like their loss that one. That said, one supports Schalke 04, a pretty big club in Germany, and they have now gone and recruited a relatively unknown coach from this "new generation". Anyway, I'm waffling.....my point is, that DF gave a terrific press conference and is clearly settling in to the role very quickly, he has a way about him that demands respect and also a clear passion about what he does and also appears to be on board big time with this great club he is representing...so far, so good....for sure :)

I'm in Ibiza, so can't be there, hoping signing up to this ifollow thing for a month will work. Although using a UK bank account.

So since I can't be there I presume it'll be an awesome 3-0 win or similar.

I am also in love with Farke. Think I'm gonna get "I don't go too deep with it" printed on a t-shirt.

Really looking forward to tomorrow. Obviously it's great to be back at Carrow Road for a competitive game but like everyone I'm really hoping we can get our first 3 points off the season. Hard to know what to expect from Sunderland. Watched their game against Derby last week and in spells they looked woeful and in other spells they looked really dangerous. Will be interesting if they go for the same front two as last week of Grabban and Vaughan, two ex-Norwich players. Expecting a tough game however it's certainly one go into it that I think we can win.

Team:

Gunn
Pinto Zimmermann Franke Husband
Reed
Wildschut Maddison Vrancic Hoolahan
Jerome
Subs: McGovern, Martin, Tettey, Naismith, Murphy, Watkins, Jerome
We've got so many attacking options it's hard to know who to have on the bench. I assume we've bought Steipermann with the view to him being more than a squad player, but its hard to even get him into the 18 with all the attacking midfielders we had. I wasn't impressed with Wildschut's defensive contributions last week, however if he's moved from wing back to his more natural wing position he could do better, plus he adds a physicality that our other midfielders in that side don't have as much. Would've put Oliveira in the side after his goal last week however I'm pretty resigned to the fact he won't start.

Gonna go optimistic which I don't usually like to do :D I predicted 1-1 correctly last week so I'll say we'll win 2-1. OTBC

I fear a dull, tight game.

Grayson is a shrewd operator at this level, he doesn't let his teams off the chain too much away from home but I don't suppose he's got Sunderland as he wants them yet.

Very impressed by Maddison. Reed is a good little player too.

Less impressed by Watkins, Naismith, Franke and Martin.

More Martin errors leading to goals today.

Sounded like Martin had a poor game.

Need to have a bit of patience but obviously conceding 3 goals at home is a pretty bad sign.

Lots of possession but no cutting edge.

Wildschut played well.

You're better off in Ibiza.

Not going to get too disheartened 2 games into the season, it's easy to forget after the enjoyment of the Fulham game that we are still a work in progress, however today was still very disappointing. First half an hour was decent. Moved the ball nicely enough and in all honesty there were long spells where Sunderland couldn't get it of us. Once Grabban put them 1-0 up however against the run of play it all fell apart. Didn't look as if we had a cutting edge or any real ideas in how to break Sunderland down. Have to give credit to Sunderland who came here with a game-plan and executed it perfectly.

As GJP says above, Maddison and Reed the only players to come out of today with any credit. Maddison was actually very good and his delivery from set-pieces is fantastic. The rest ranged from indifferent to poor, apart from Gunn who had nothing to do but pick the ball out of his net 3 times. Couldn't have done anything about the goals he conceded. Wildschut perhaps the next closest to having the best game. Mad some threatening runs as he did against Fulham but his decision making and just general technical ability let him down. Husband, Naismith, Franke and Zimmermann were all much of a muchness really. Jerome unfortunately today really didn't have a good game. Although admittedly the way we played didn't suit him as we were always looking to give him the ball into feet rather than try and get in behind which is what he prefers. Even in a defence that didn't perform that well Martin stood out like a sore thumb as the weak link. The only player for me to have a worse game than him was Watkins, who consistently lost possession and broke down moves. Wasn't that impressed with him at Fulham but today took the biscuit.

Overall very disappointing, but onwards and upwards. Get a win on Wednesday against QPR and the whole mood around the club will change again. I do hope changes are made for that game though, need to get Oliveira, Wes, Pinto and maybe Vrancic back in the side in my opinion.

Pretty much agree with all that. Russ Martin wasn't terrible but doesn't seem to be on the same wavelength as the German lads, Husband was steady, Reed is great at " tidying " in front of the back four. I was a bit disappointed Wildschut was taken off and would have pulled Watkins as had no influence on the game and seemed weak to me.

I think there will be changes for weds, we certainly are going to play a certain way, for the people that sat near me shouting " get it forward " get used to it, it's not going to change and we're not going to play route one.

Im feeling a bit flat but not disheartened, with a bit more tweaking, and finding a way past teams that spend a lot of time defending then this can still be a good season.

Yeah but Russ gave the ball away for 2 of the goals. And actually he was a bit at fault at Fulham because he didn't close the ball down, had he have done so the "unlucky" own goal doesn't happen.

Can't keep being allowed to get away with it.
