Ach, will just miss this as don't fly home till Sunday.

Hopefully a more attacking lineup, and the subs against Brum will have given Farke something to think about.

Fly home on Saturday then? :)

Not sure if we will go much more attacking - I imagine we may still play two holders in midfield to try and gain a foothold in the game. I think their midfield is decent, especially at this level.

I don't get to choose, the surfer boat comes Sunday mornings. That said, it's only a 40 mile swim to shore....

Really looking forward to this. Not actually expecting us to win I have to admit, I think it could be pretty similar to the Sunderland game this time last year. Would be delighted to be proven wrong though! I'd go for:

Krul
Marshall Hanley Klose Stiepermann
Trybull Tettey
Hernandez Leitner McLean
Rhodes

Subs: Matthews, Zimmermann, Godfrey, Thompson, Buendia, Pukki, Srbeny
Husband cannot start this game. If Farke thinks Passlack is up to it then I'd be happy to see him start there, but judging by the fact that he wasn't even on the bench last week I'm assuming he's not ready yet, in which case hopefully Stiepermann plays. I think as the season progresses and we get more used to Farke's way of playing we should be going with one defensive midfielder in home games, as a big problem at home for us last season was breaking teams down, which an extra attacking player would help solve, but this early in the season I don't mind us trying to be more solid. McLean and Leitner should start after they were both superb off the bench last week. As I said in another thread I hope we have a homegrown 'keeper on the bench instead of McGovern or it's a bit of a waste.

It is difficult to predict games this early into the season, but I'm very hopefully of a good performance with good football, and hopefully a good result. OTBC.

Got to expect a tough game but we should be serious about trying to win it and not just serious about not getting beat. It would appear WBA are not quite at the races yet and we don't want to be the team that helps them get in their stride.

I'm not saying our main target should be to make sure we don't get beat. Of course our priority should be to try and win the game and we've still got a very strong front 4 if we were to play that team. My point is though it will be more detrimental to us if we try and play a more attack minded 4-1-4-1, which has never looked like it can work under Farke. Our best results last season when we had the Tettey-Trybull combination in holding midfield, and when Farke did try and play 4-1-4-1 as recently as pre-season we looked lost. You would think that work is being done behind the scenes so that the players can get used to that formation, but I imagine at this early stage of the season they're not, hence why I'd go for 4-2-3-1 with Tettey and Trybull deep.

Plus chances are, seeing as West Brom have just come down, they're gonna have a bit of a go at us anyway, which will leave our front 4 plenty of space to exploit going forward. I don't know for sure but I can't imagine them coming here and parking 10 men behind the ball like a lot of teams do away from home.

Fwiw, what I said was just me saying it. It wasn't in response to your post.

It's not all about you ffs.

No injury worries really, Stiepermann and Pinto both available, Jamal Lewis the only one not, other than Jarvis obviously!

I see that Jarvis is back training but not quite training with the team yet.

He's 32 now and I can't see him playing at the top of the Championship anymore. Club has stood by him and helped his recuperating, but time's moved on.

Really happy that we had such an experienced championship spine on the pitch. Krul, Tettey Rhodes. Maybe they will come good

"all eleven in the box and we still concede a free header and an unchallenged shot. How exactly?"

Zonal marking :(

Well we were worried that we wouldn't have enough goals in the side, and it looks like we do....

But its really concerning how we struggle so much at the back with a back 4 under Farke. Doesn't look like we'll be seeing the 3 centre backs this season if we've let Raggatt go without replacing?

Left it too late this summer to panic buy a defender or goalkeeper like we did last season, unless there's a decent one left out of a Premier League 25 man squad?
