Wasn't able to watch or listen to the game today but delighted with the result, didn't actually expect us to get anything despite Liverpool's poor form so a point is a great result in my mind. Sounds like Liverpool weren't really on it today, but we dug in and in the end deserved the draw.

Have to say I wasn't overly surprised to see Wes dropped, as it does make a lot of sense tactically and it proved to be the right decision and Alex Neil deserves a lot of credit, as does Russell Martin, who I understand should've done better for the Liverpool goal, but who's son was born this morning and therefore he's been up all night and had to travel from Norwich to Liverpool this morning with the directors, and he went on to obviously score the equaliser. Sounds as if Ruddy saved us a few times too.

Happy with the point, last time we were in the Premier League we never would've made it to half time with it 0-0, let alone managed to get back into the game after going a goal down. We're in good form going into the next 4 games against West Ham, Leicester, Newcastle and West Brom, where you would hope there's quite a few points up for grabs.

Surprised how little discussion there is on here, after what is arguably one of the toughest places to get anything from, yet we've come away with a well earned draw, didnt see the game myself as I was at bloody work, but from all accounts it seems that would put up a good defensive game and neutralized what they had to offer, watching MOTD2 they clearly had the better of the game but failed to take their chances, were as we took what came our way, also but for a good stop from Mignolet Matt Jarvis could of made it 2 from 2 for him and seen us come away from there with all 3 points

Not to beat the Hughton horse anymore but it's pretty apparent that going there under him we would of probably lost that game about 4-0, going behind under him was basically game over and we'd get picked apart after conceding the first, yet you can clearly see the never say die attitude the players have under Alex Neil.

Also it's nice to look at the stats and see a game we didn't dominate yet got something from, after the Palace game we should of gotten at least a point from, and the Stoke game we deserved to win, so nice to start evening these things out

We played very well and its a great point, but I doubt this Liverpool team would even have beaten our Hughton team (2nd season) by that many goals, can't remember a worse Liverpool side.

One thing that I've taken from the game is that Ruddy suddenly looks like a very composed keeper again, I hope this means he's hitting his top form again. When he is playing with confidence I think the whole defence does.

Love this comment from a Liverpool forum...

"I think every team needs a Milner , the problem is we have 3 or 4 of them and they are all starters in our midfield"

Coming back from a goal down at Anfield showed great character, and got an excellent result. Really pleased for Martin, what a weekend he's had!

Its strange how we all see things  differently.  Now dont get me wrong,  I was delighted by the effort put in and the end result, but.....I really didnt think we played as well as we can, and at times we made Liverpool look good as I thought we surrendered the midfield in the second half.

The Liverpool defence didnt look solid and I am not convinced we tested them enough, they were pretty static at times.

So pleased for Russell Martin, sure he made an error, but more than made up for it with an exquisite touch for his goal, and what a story!

Ruddy is back to his best, thought his positioning all afternoon was exceptional.

Surprised no one has mentioned Bassong, as I thought he was immense and put in one of his best performances in a yellow shirt.

Maybe my expectations are unrealistic or i am wanting us to run before we can walk, but I genuinely feel we could have won that game, had we taken the game to Liverpool a little more.

Delighted with the result especially after going 1-0 down.  Have only seen the highlights  on MOTD which I suspect show virtually all the Liverpool chances so can't comment on the overall game but it's a very tough place to go.

What do people think about Tettey when Liverpool broke and Coutinho ended up one-on-one with Ruddy who managed to deflect it around the post ?

Lawro made a sarky comment about Tettey seeming not to want to go near the ball but I thought it was intelligent defending for the last man faced by two attackers on the break.  He was on a yellow card so couldn't have taken out Coutinho even outside the box.  If he'd come over towards him, with Ruddy also committed at the near post, Coutinho could've squared the ball easily to the other attacker who'd then have had a completely open goal.  As it was, Tettey hovered in the middle to cut off that option and also stopped Coutinho cutting back inside, thus forcing him to have a go at Ruddy from a very narrow angle, probably the best a defender could've done in that position.

It's a tricky one. Had Coutinho scored, we'd all be lambasting Tettey for not closing him down.

I can see why he's done it, in theory it sounds a good plan to focus on cutting out the pass and have faith in your keeper to stop the shot.  But coutinho had basically the entire half to himself, if he wanted to square it he wouldve been able to whether Tettey was there or not. So he might as well go help ruddy and at least try to put him off the shot.

But it was nice that for a change it was our goalie have the game of their lives rather than the opposition!

Have to agree there DM. But having said that it may be a symptom of how much we have improved that some of us feel we can go and be ambitious away from home. Not a criticism of the performance at all but just a feeling that we could have won yesterday.

Of course I am delighted with a point but just felt with a bit more ambition we might have got three. Surely this is one of the worst Liverpool squads of all time. Their midfield, while having possession, were no better than ours passing wise and Lucas and Milner bring an ordinary look to a side that is fragile at the back and have spent a lot of money once again but I'm not sure they got value for money.

I thought we could have dispensed with either Redmond or Jarvis in the second half and introduced Wes. There weren't many times when we crossed it into the box and there were two or three waiting. But I feel Liverpool are very vulnerable up the middle and Wes may have exploited that and allowed Howson and co time to support poor old Jerome who really must have felt a bit lonely at times.

I thought the best moment of the match was us being unable to drop Llallana, he plays in Coutinho and Tettey thinks he ought to let Coutinho run in on goal and ran away from him. And as you say, Ruddy looked back to his assured best yesterday and I think frightened Coutinho who couldn't make up his mind.

Not sure about this - I think where Tettey was when Coutinho was coming into the box, Tettey would have had a good chance of cutting out any ball across played by Coutinho.  Whereas if Tettey had committed himself across to stop Couthinho, a ball across would actually have been easier and the receiving player would've had a total open goal.  And of course Tettey had to make the decision instantly rather than time to think about it.

I guess there's never an easy option when you're the last defender with 2 attackers.  When you're attacking like that at 2v1, I'd say the strikers "ought" to score no matter what the defender does.  So in my book Tettey made the right choice.

I felt from the highlights that Ruddy did well and commanded his area too from the comments on the match threads, and did well to close down Coutinho there.  But if he'd conceded any of those efforts I'd be disappointed TBH, so I would put it down as a good performance rather than a great one.
