I completely agree. There is no doubt that the Championship is more fun than the Premiership but that is because we are Norwich not Leeds, Ipswich or Blackburn.

But, if we don't go up we will in time become those teams stuck in this league with the occasional flurry and hope of promotion. The fans of those teams dream and hope but cannot expect improvement on being mid table fodder.

It could be great to get the best of all worlds say by getting to Wembley for a playoff final each year but losing and staying in the cut and thrust of this division but that it unachievable. When the money ran out and the good players left we would be mid table fodder too.

We have to try for promotion and we have to succeed. We need to accept the limitations of the Premiership for Norwich; accept the spankings and disappointments because as you rightly say, the alternative is much worse.

totally agreed.  I have completely mixed feelings about going back up to the Prem.  It was great when we went up last time because we'd only had one season there since '95 and just going to the grounds like Anfield, OT, Emirates was enough (especially as under Lambert we gave it a real go).  The novetly wore off soon enough

It was telling that initially a lot of our away Prem games were over-subscribed whereas last year you could get a ticket for every match if you applied at the start.

This time if we do get promoted it won't fill me with any real enthusiasm and I'd pick and choose which games to go to.

But it's absolutely true that if you don't go up, your risk is getting stuck in the Champ for a long time again, which is worse.

Being a yo-yo club isn't so bad.  I just hope, if we do go up, we have the courage to stick with an approach of going for it and don't bring in another cautious manager like Hughton.

I've got nothing against being a yo-yo club at all, assuming we can't replicate something along the lines of Southampton. Its another whole conversation about why that won't happen (to me its down to the way we blood our youth, whether that's down to quality of players or just plain balls is up to debate. But we'll leave this for another thread)

Anyway, I digress. Being a yo-yo club isn't so bad. Keeps money in the coffers to allow us to retain the position of 'yo-yo' without becoming stuck in the champ, pays for cat 1 academy and decent players on the books whilst we get a few seasons of nitty gritty, backs to the wall premiership football, with hopefully a few potential upsets. Mixed with season in the Championship such as this, which I honestly think most people would say are more enjoyable, at least to watch week in week out.

What I would really love though, in amongst all this yo-yo'ing, is a cup win. We are celebrating a 1985 Milk Cup win this year. Imagine winning the FA or league cup next year, it would be something us fans can really celebrate for years/decades/eons to come. Birmingham, Swansea, Pompey and Leicester have all achieved cup success in the last few years, I don't see why we can't. Especially the League cup with some of the 'weakened' teams that get fielded. Maybe its a pipe dream, but I still think celebrating a cup win, even if it came with relegation from the prem, would still be one the most memorable moments of being an NCFC fan in my lifetime (currently 29, and unfortunately don't have a very good memory so don't remember the 92/93 season very well at all)!

The only reason we are enjoying the Champs is because we have a premier league squad, albeit a relegation one!
