In answer to Mark's question, my opinion is that it was a bit of both - there were some individual performances that were improved such as the CB pairing, Rudd in goal, while players like Olsson, Hoolahan, and Dorrans all upped their game, and Mulumbu and Vadis both looked very useful. It had a lot in common with the first 60 minutes vs Newcastle but with improved defending. There were a few Everton breaks that reminded me of Newcastle's attacks but with some incisive defending at the key point. Even on the occasion when Rudd came out of his goal and didn't make it, other defenders swarmed back to close down the danger.
I wouldn't over sell it though. Everton had chances and with better finishing could have been winners in normal time - although we had more real chances than them over all periods of the game and probably with Mbokani or Jerome I would have fancied us to win this one.
