He was alright, can't really say much more than that. Looked skillful in bringing the ball out of defence, on occasion. I always find senior players that play in these games don't really put their heart into them though.

I didn't look at him and think "Yeah, this guy should be starting in the first team" though, if I'm honest.

But no real negatives. He wasn't awful, or anything.

I take your point, but no, not another Ayala I don't think. He maybe just needs a chance, maybe in the cup, to showcase himself.

Well the jury is out on a Norwich perspective on Ayala. It would seem he is doing well and good luck to him, but he didnt feature a great deal for us and was shipped on pretty unceremoniously. Is Miquel looking like he will end up going the same way or will he feature for us do you think?

I only saw him play for the first time, first impression is one for the future, but I'd like to see a bit more of him, like I say, maybe in a cup game.

Id like to know what the thinking was in buying him - I wonder if the recruitment team also saw him as one for the future or whether they thought he would feature this season. McGrandles seems to be one for the future.

Can't really tell you I'm afraid, I was right down at the river end of the stand, they kicked towards the Barclay in the first half, and Liverpool rarely bothered us, it was very one sided, so the defence really didn't have very much to do.

I have to admit, I wasn't watching him that closely.

Miquel is definitely left-footed, but at 21 is still very young for a CB. His time will come.

Well thats good he's left footed, helps balance the squad a bit

Perhaps Hooiveld was brought in on loan to give some time for Miquel to break into the team. Arsenal certainly saw something in him.
