The Norwich Way

We heard a lot from the board before Adams was appointed that the new manager must play "the Norwich Way". Russ Martin said at the end of season do that we had "lost our identity" over recent seasons.

What does this mean? What will be the new Norwich identity?

Hopefully it means we won't approach games like a defence vs attack training exercise and won't treat Rotherham like they're Real Madrid.

Yep, we know we'll be attacking but so will a dozen other teams. Does the "Norwich way" mean "the Lambert way" or has Adams got some tricks up his sleeve?

I've always thought win lose or draw we've always tried to entertain whilst giving 100%, isn't that 'the Norwich way'?

This is what I think when "the Norwich way" is quoted.

There is no such thing as "the Norwich way". Every team on the planet thinks that "their way" is free flowing attacking football. It's a myth.

When they say "The Norwich way", I think they are referring to much more than just the way that we play football but the team spirit and culture under Lambert. He used his squad, considered every squad member important, changed things up to give everybody a chance, always said that the players not in the team were as important as those who were in the team.

The squad were close knit, the fans felt part of it, the players wanted to play, score and win for each other and the fans. I don't think this just means playing two strikers and less than two defensive midfielders. He has made Russell Martin his captain (a player who understands what it was like at the club under Lambert),and brought in Gary O'Neil (an experienced grafter). All of his signings have been British so far, and have a point to prove or a desire to move up a level. Very much looks like he is building a family again and only wants players who are interested in playing a part in it.

I think when the board gave the 'Norwich Way' statements out they were referring to us giving it a go rather than preparing for defeat, we've always been good at playing the underdog against bigger teams and under Hughton we'd lost that mentality/belief, i think it was painful for them to sit and watch it happen.

I also felt it signalled intent on utilising our homegrown talent too, which we've always managed to do over the years.  I can't think of our last success in that department, i guess it would be Rob Green?  We've got 2-3 proper hopefuls this season and i think with Adams he has a clear mandate to encourage their growth.

Agree with this but would add wining very little on the way (unfortunately)!

For me it means a quick passing game that is pleasing to the eye and effective as well (not just passing the ball around in our own area to keep possession).
