My broadband deal is about to expire and I am considering switching to a new ISP.

I am currently with EE and have no problem with my potamic hobbies.

What service providers are other people with - and do you have any problems with fast flowing water??

Can you get fibre optic?

Virgin fibre optic was the best internet I've ever had, and had the added bonus of not requiring a landline phone rental so it was cheap too.

We can't get fibre optic now so are paying for a landline which we literally never use.

I take it your cables to the property goes under a river, but this should not cause any problem. My line goes across marshland and I have not really had an issue but I guess its not fast flowing, but the cable should be in a protective casing.

I am with BT and have not had to much of a problem with them. The only thing was when fibre came to my area they said I could get around 70Mbs speeds, which I was very doubtful of because of how far away from the exchange box I was. I took their word and had all the gear installed, but when the engineer and myself tested it I was getting no where near that, only 6.5Mbs.... It was confirmed later by the engineer I was to far away to get full fibre. BT kept me on the fibre network for the same price as normal broadband, I am getting 2x faster net just for being on the network. Thats the only issue I have had, and so I would just advise checking to see how far you are from the box when ordering fibre, I think the speeds drop off a cliff at 1.2km or so. Here is a graph.

I'm with SKY and I'd argue that they're probably the best overall ISP if you can't get Virgin Media Cable (which I've never managed to do in 12 years and 4 houses....)

I'm on their standard 'unlimited' package (and it actually it unlimited unlike a lot of the others),and even with a 15mb cnx, I've personally encountered no trouble when watching programmes regarding small rivers, brooks or similar.

Also, I've found SKY's customer service to generally be pretty damn good, and it's very rare that I get a connection drop, and even then it's usually back on within a minute or two.

It was thanks to you mentioning that box on the 'other' site that I got round to installing Kodi, so I'll probably have even less issues this season than I may have had previously :)

Glad to be of help! I wanted mine for a TV upstairs in a spare room, hence bought the box, yeah, Kodi seems pretty good. I use the Phoenix tv app, seems okay so far ( though admit I haven't used it much so far)

I've barely touched it either, but being fair when I installed it, there was only really the Copa America available in terms of footy, though I did manage to catch a few movies through other apps.

I'm with Plusnet. Very slow in the flat I'm currently in. Fibre not really an option, cabinet miles away. Speed is officially no stars on a 5 star speed test. Having said that, and my water course being more of a brook than anything larger I was able to spectate at my chosen sport Saturday with no problem via my PC.
