Variety as well as quantity

I refer to the goals we are scoring. There is a tremendous variety - tap ins, headers, long shots, quick follow ups to rebounds, one-on-ones, from free-kick, etc.

This seems to me healthy and also a reflection of the improvements throughout the team - already Tettey 2, BJ 2, Olsson 1, Turner 1, The best example, however is probably Jerome, who has scored some very good goals.

I like it partly because it makes it difficult for opposing teams to block our usual avenues to goal, and partly because it makes very attractive and exciting football. "What sort of goal will the next be?" It gives players confidence that the goals will come, as well.

I suppose all goals are good goals but you are right that the variety and the ambition and skill attached to that variety makes them very pleasing on the eye. None of the stereotypical media comments about us only scoring from headers or set pieces as has happened in the past.

I for one need to eat my hat. I said on Jerome's signing that it wasn't a good one and we needed better. After 4(?) goals now in the little time he has had on the pitch, I'm happy to admit I was wrong.

I know its very early days, but my only worry would be, are they good enough for the Prem? But we'll worry about that if/WHEN we get there! If they get us there, I suppose that would be enough anyways...

I've said it many times, but I still think Hooper will be the best striker at our club at this level!

I'd say they would be good enough for the PL, Safri. Whittaker's pinpoint cross on to Jerome's head was top class and his header in off the post wouldn't have been saved by any keeper. His second goal was even better and unstoppable in off the underside of the bar. Like you, I had my doubts when he was signed, but I don't now. Hooper is going to have to work very hard to displace him.

Jerome was a striker who was playing regularly in the premiership and doing alright. I'm surprised he's made the move down to be honest and for just £1.5m as well!

Yes I was tbh amazed when we were able to sign Jerome this summer. I think he'll be our main man up front this season.

This was a good bit of scouting, getting Jerome so cheap. This could be one of the signings of our season.

Jerome's 4 goals are excellent enough, but I have been impressed by his overall game where he uses his pace and power to good effect in both attack and defense. Whoscored gave him the MotM award and a rating of 8.96 for the Brentford game, which is the highest ever I can remember for a City player. He is currently our second highest rated player with 7.56 overall, just behind Tettey's 7.57.

Early days, but he does seem to be one of the best signings we made over the summer, although he has a lot of competition!

Watching the highlights of Brentford, the first goal sums up the change in attitude to me. Bradley Johnson breaks up their attack in their half and there are 5 players around their box within seconds. And Tettey get into the box.

Haven't seen that type of commitment forward without worrying about the consequences for a long time. I know its the Championship but we might not have been there with that sort of willingness from the previous regime.
