If we go up then it is pretty clear that we will need one, perhaps two, quality centre backs and will need to tryand unload a couple of the present, at least.

I believe that Cuellar leaves at the season's end and we will maybe have oofers for Turner from Fulham. As said above, Bennett  just doesn't seem to establish his presence and, despite many chances, is still seen as a back up. He might well benefit from a move, but let's not forget that Jason Shakel, similar situation to RB, now plays in the PL.

If we fail, then we should well settle for the presnt crop and keep Turner as well.

Another vulnerability of ours that has caught us out on a few occasions this season, is that we really struggle to break teams down when they park the bus. If we go 1-0 down, particularly at home, we then can't seem to get ourselves back in the game because the other team stick 10 men behind the ball, and we can't get any space or time on the ball in the final 3rd, and therefore have to resort to launching the ball 50 yards towards the opposition box, often with no effect. Wigan, Boro and Brentford were the main teams to do this, and they all took 3 points off us, at home. What concerns me is that this Saturday, Ipswich will nab an early goal and then employ the same tactics as Wigan and Boro.

On Russell Martin, he's a good defender at this level, and has had a good season. But he was poor on Saturday, and as a centre back option I much prefer Ryan Bennett. I also think that Martin is a better right back than Whittaker, but Whittaker has hit a good run of form under Alex Neil, and therefore and this moment in time I'd choose him over Martin as well. He won't be dropped for Saturday, but I think personally we'd be better off with him on the bench Saturday, with Bennett centre back and Whittaker right back.

I mentioned this parking a bus but think  Old Mick will park more than one if they get a goal up....   ideally we need to hit them first and draw them out giving a little more space.    the defence isn't my concern it is the other end.  at times we hardly register an effort .. so I wonder if he will go for Jerome and Hooper  or stick with Jerome and have hoolahoop behind in the hole..
