Yep, just heard the interview. Seemed pretty obvious that he wasn't in the match day squad and given time off. Some fans obviously think players aren't allowed time off on match days!

He is entitled to a day off, thats not a problem.

But on the morning of a game, to basically inform the opposition that one of our "star" players won't be involved, is a wee bit poor. Personally I thought he would have maybe been involved today, if nothing more to get a few more minutes under his belt.

And I know some people question Hoopers commitment, and this hasn't helped. With a day to spare he could, of course, maybe traveled to Blackpool with the squad to just watch the game?

Neil did say that had he been in the match day squad for Blackpool, he'd probably have got 'just a few minutes". This would probably be of little assistance in his recovery programme and he's due in for training on Sunday with the view to be in three Development squad game on Monday.

Seems like he's been managed back properly, rather than rushed, and I still think he's going to have a big part to play in this season.

The only thing he was guilty of was letting everyone know that he wasn't involved in the game, but, even that could have been a "wind up" for all we could have known at the time.

Who really cares, players are entitled to have days off, what did you want him to do be glued to an illegal stream or have radio norfolk on. You have to remember playing for Norwich is his job. Hes not a hardcore supporter like us.

Do you think Hooper really came into the Blackpool managers/coaches/scouts thoughts. I should imagine most of there homework in stopping our attackers was spent on Redmond, Hoolahan, Grabban, Jerome rather than a player who hasnt played any minutes in the league and a player who was so obviously rusty vs Shrewsbury. I dont think you needed to be a physic to work outhe wouldnt be involved vs Blackpool.

I actually expected him to be on the bench, its not that far fetched, is it?

I would like to see him on the bench but not if he is not ready. I understand that he looked pretty poor in the cup game. As Neil said, no one really knocked on the door that night.

I look forward to a five million pound striker coming into the squad soon as I am sure all the other clubs are looking at our attacking options and are bricking it.

Watching Hooper at Shrewsbury he looked a long way off full fitness and I had no expectation of him making the squad at Blackpool. If he wanted to be at the Ryder Cup than good luck to him. Personally I was glad to be at Bloomfield Road but we should not kid ourselves that Hooper should have the mindset of a supporter.

Its hardly the same thing is it? I presume you follow him on twitter? Would it have killed him to wish his team mates a bit of luck?

Sorry but Hooper strikes me very much as someone who is totally out for himself, and would happily turn his back on Norwich City at the drop of a hat. And very much the sort of player that I would have thought we would have got rid of post relegation. Perhaps we tried, who knows?

Sorry Morty but I think you've just described nearly every single footballer in the modern day game. You obviously get the few exceptions to the rule, but I'd go as far as saying 99% of footballers are 'mercenaries' now.

Maybe we are lucky to have more than our fair share of the exceptions however...

Do players who are not in the matchday squad generally travel to away games?  If it was a home game I would have expected him to be at the game supporting his team-mates, but as a general rule when the club makes a trip to away games, do non-selected players go? Or do they stay at home?   If theyre generally left at home then he's entitled to do what he likes with his free time

Sorry Morty but I think you've just described nearly every single footballer in the modern day game. You obviously get the few exceptions to the rule, but I'd go as far as saying 99% of footballers are 'mercenaries' now.

Yes, but most get the hang of at least pretending to care a bit. When Hooper joined Norwich he made more noise about wanting to get into the England squad, than he did about joining us.

I have always thought he is of the opinion that he is too good for us.

Some do travel, yes. Some even sit with the fans.

Holt was great at getting fellow team mates behind the team and at games, you only had to look at the youth cup and there would be the majority of the first team squad there watching and celebrating the wins like they were 3 premiership points. Maybe without someone like him, with the real passion for the club behind him, it doesn't materialise with others so much.

And you are right Morty, it isn't difficult to at least look like you care even if you don't. Maybe his missing out on the WC squad and no longer playing premiership football has dulled his passion for it all a bit. His main motivation for playing for Norwich was just that, England and premiership football, neither of which really panned out. I'm not into the whole twitter scene, but I seem to remember people mentioning his tweets last season quite a lot. But I may have dreamed that up.

Once he's fully fit and is banging goals away for fun I'm sure we'll see a different Hooper again!

I hope so, but I think there is just as much of a chance of him banging some goals in, then banging on the door to get out of here in January!

Don't think we can expect the bloke to do a 10 hour round trip to Blackpool in his car to watch us, especially as he's recovering from injury.
