OK so you don't agree with me but you cannot deny the following:

Charlton had a lot of the ball and passed it around a lot at the back and midfield - hence the comment why we didn't close down or press higher up the pitch.
Charlton had a lot of the ball? I don't think anyone could agree with that.

They had a decent spell of possession halfway through the first half. Apart from that, they could hardly get their foot on the ball.

Well they aren't are they, did you go to the game?? I'm not the only one who  think this.

I can see that I am gonna become the Wiz of this forum and anything I say positive or negative will be wrong.

Sorry Paul, I'm not trying to offend you. I'm just trying to respectfully disagree with your opinion. You're entitled to your opinion. I just happen to think it's wrong.

Of course I went to the game mate. You may remember from a previous thread, we discovered I sit not too far from you in the upper N&P. Let me know if you want to share a beer some time and 'hug it out'. :D

Ahh yeah I remember now, have been banned for a week so lost track off everything going on in here.

I think I'm still tired from weekend going to the NFL game and Norwich on Tuesday and generally not being very well for the last year.

A hug would be nice  :D

Regarding the 'pressing' debate - the way I saw it, we did press them, but the moment they sensed danger they just passed the ball backwards. They were happy knocking the ball around endlessly in their own half, and when we did press high they just passed it around us. They were slowing the game down from the first whistle, totally one-dimensional but irritatingly difficult to break down. The trouble is, if you play a high-tempo pressing game while they play a slow-tempo game with endless backwards and sideways passes, we will run out of energy and leave ourselves vulnerable towards the end of the game.

That said, in the second half we were absolutely all over them, got in behind several times but couldn't quite find the killer cross/cut-back. If we'd have pressed high and hard from the off we would have been much more vulnerable - as it was, they had one long-range shot and got lucky. You can't account for that, you just have to suck it up and move on.

We had 61% of possession, and saw a lot more of the ball than they did. Yes they played the ball around a lot at the back and midfield, but a lot of teams do that, especially when you're setting up to try and take a point away from home.

The tempo was awful, apart from the first 10 minutes it was slow.  Redmond offered the only pace, and playing Hoolahan as a winger makes us disjointed as he drifts into the centre too much and leaves Olson all on his on.

In the second half in particular, the tempo of our attacks were very quick. And as Adams said after the game, Hoolahan wasn't playing on the wing, he was playing in behind the striker, and on several occasions we would find him in that little pocket of space between the Charlton midfield and defence. Yes it meant that we had no options down the left hand side, but I certainly don't think that meant that the tempo was slow.

Tettey was playing as a sweeper and picking up the ball sometimes in the centre back role he needs to be higher up the pitch in midfield.

Yes he came deep to collect the ball, but he wasn't playing as a sweeper. Tettey has done that in every game so far this season.

Grabban has yes scored 6 goals and I totally agree with Surgeryman that he needs 3 goes to score a goal, I don't know if he is tired and needs a rest, but yes when Hooper is fit it would be Jerome and Hooper for me.

We only created about 4 decent chances with Redmond missing the best one, the rest of the time we huffed and puffed.  Turner was man of the match by a mile and shows how poor we were.
I'm not trying to argue with you for the sake of it. As TGOT said, I'm not trying to offend you, that is your opinion, this is mine. And I do agree with the last 2 points you make.

Charlton can try and draw their way to success but since three points for a win nearly 30 years ago, teams who draw a lot end up nearer the bottom than the top. But they will have their day in the sun and Tuesday was one. The way they hugged each other afterwards illustrated this.

We were positive but naive. And that includes the boss as well. And our positive approach has been nullified by teams coming to Carrow Road and stopping us playing rather than trying to win themselves. And others will try it. We have to learn how to counter this negativity. But as with much of British football, we haven't really ever discovered how to do it. And that is one reason the national team is not as successful as it should be.

The timing of substitutions has been controversial with City fans for the last few years. Lambert seemed to script his at dead on the hour and Hughton seemed reluctant to change anything until 5  minutes from time.

I think the pattern of the game was too established for our substitutions to make any difference on Tuesday. They were like for like and didn't alter the pattern and eventual outcome of the game.

Nothing wrong with expressing a different opinion Paul. Too many people fail to simply agree to disagree. I can't bide intolerance of views hence was never on the pink un. Not 606 is pretty good in regard to agreeing to disagree and here also

Treatment of for example Wiz on the Pink un and sometimes Carrabuh on Not 606 for simply saying what the feel and having a different view of things has been IMO. poor at times
