This will be my first Norwich game this season, and my first ever trip to Hillsborough.

Actually drove past the stadium the other day after taking the dogs for a walk in the Peaks, first time I'd even seen the outside. The area around the ground looked pretty rough, and as it will be just me (or possibly me and the missus) I won't be wearing any colours!

Team I'd like to see:

Ruddy
Martin Turner Miquel Olsson
Howson Tettey
Redmond Odjidja Lafferty
Jerome

I don't think we will see that team though. I think it will be the same team that played against Leeds, except possibly Grabban coming in for Murphy and Lafferty going onto the wing.

I think it'll be more dropped points here. It will be difficult though and I expect Sheffield Wednesday to give us a real game. I think it'll be a draw personally.

2-2.

I almost completely agree with Din's team above, but would rather see Hooper start. He needs a chance to get some games together to build up some form. He'll never do that playing the last 10-20 minutes of a game. I think Odjidja could be the answer for any of our strikers to get some decent link up play from what we saw of him against Leeds. And agree its time Russ stopped playing a CB unless required, Jos isn't cutting the mustard, so give the young lad Miquel a start. If/when we go up he could do with another seasons experience under his belt.

Quick query, I thought I read that Lafferty is suspended?

I'd go slightly different with 4-3-1-2

Ruddy

Martin, Turner, Miquel, Olsson

Howson, Tettey, VOO

Grabban

Hooper Jerome

Time to give Bennett and Garrido a crack of the whip.

Have to agree with Dins selection - with a probably preference for garrido in place of a disappointing Olsson and instruction for the back four to remember they are defenders and not get so far forward and gung ho and exposing the cbs.   Sadly Adams not for turning cry suggests that is unlikely.

We have to pass the ball quicker and forward earlier in the build up - why we chose to only attack once they have time to set their defence up is beyond me.   With tettey and howson we will keep the ball,   but we just need the front four to make themselves availabel and offer some genuine movement so that tettey and howson have a forward pass to make

You're spot on actually yeah, completely forgot that.

In that case I'd play Jerome left wing and Hooper up top. Jerome's best game for us IMO was against Cardiff when he came off the bench and played left wing, so I think he's easily capable of playing there.

I'd return to the 4-2-3-1:

Ruddy

Martin Turner Hooiveld Olsson (or Garrido)

Howson Tettey

Grabban Odjidja-Ofoe Redmond

Jerome

New formation, new ideas.

Ruddy

Martin Hooiveld Turner Olsson

Tettey                Howson
Odjidja-Ofoe

Redmond               Murphy
Hooper

We really need not to be so tentative on the ball. knocking it around and prodding about for gaps in their back four doesn't seem to be working. We have genuine pace on our wings, let's use it and attack full backs. When attacking down the left, the right winger can move in to provide support for Hooper and vice versa, while one of our midfield three can provide an option moving up into the box.

All sounds very good, but then I'm sure there's flaws in it, I'm not a manager.

Would really like to see the Tettey, Howson and Ofoe midfield (and see it given a decent run of games).

Slight niggling feeling Johnson might be in there though.

My hope is that Tettey, Howson and Odjidja-Ofoe can produce a midfield like Tettey, Howson and Fer last year.

Can anybody tell me which pubs near the ground are away fan friendly (or designated)? Having once lived immediately adjacent to one of the main hooligan pubs near Bramhall Lane for a short period in the past (and seeing the riot police in action every fortnight),I'm a bit wary of Sheffield, and don't know Hillsborough at all.

Have you seen the post lower down the page "For those travelling to Sheffield". A little distance from the ground

I would go along with that, but perhaps with Redmond in place of Grabban. He has a few more pluses for me. Better first touch, better able to go past defenders, more pace. Could possibly win us a penalty from that position and may even get a confidence boosting goal.

I did wrestle with that option too. We've tried him off the front man (one player) last season, and, I believe pre-season this, with limited success.

I was trying to get away from this "only attack from out wide" formula which seems to be our current default mode recently.

However, as you say, that would certainly bring more pace to the game.

I was not thinking of playing Redmond wide. But more as a number 10 with a free role behind the two strikers. Basically as an alternative to Wes who is not available.

Also with my pragmatic head on, if we end up chasing the game NA will go 442. Which would then only need one substitution if Redmond is on the pitch.

I realised that was what you were saying SussexYellow and I was agreeing with you. Sorry if that wasn't clear in my previous post

forgetting laffertys suspension I would do a straight swap with Grabban

Ruddy

Martin  Turner  Iggy  Garrido

        Tettey  Howson

Redderz  VOO  Grabban

             Jerome

back 4 keep a shape,  movement from the front 4 and slick passing forwards rather than so many wilkins-esque crab passes.

And Howson has to return to winning ways soon - doesnt he??

Have to say with the absence of a left winger, and Olssons undoubted ability, it might be worth taking the Roeder approach to the left flank and playing Olsson left wing with Garrido behind him. Garrido is a good player only out of the team because Olsson is better. With the lack of a Pilkington down that wing, I would certainly consider Garrido and Olsson. Why are VOO and Hooper not featuring more? Or Howson for that matter? Can we afford to take our time with them when we are dropping points?
