I honestly don't think its a fickle thing, in respect of fans crying just because we lose a game or two. Do you go to away games at all? This is where I find you really get a feel for how fans are feeling, in the bars and concourses, pre, mid and post game. And people are concerned. The away fans were pretty subdued on Saturday, even though we were one nil up, because no one had confidence that we could see the game out, which of course proved to be the case.
Not accusing the fans of fickleness. Morty. And it isn't a game or two. As I said on another thread, you can't keep blaming bad luck when it happens every flaming week! But whether it is just a blip or a ditch NA can't get us out of, I hope the fans give him a few more games before turning vocally on him. I too am concerned, actually just about concerned enough that it we were to remove the manager I would agree with the decision. All I hope is that as long as he remains in position it doesn't get ugly in the stands

As I said, three wins on her bounce and he may yet stave off being sacked...but we would then need to build on that form in a way we didn't after our good start.

I do go to away games - only a few each season but enough to appreciate the difference...ironically because we don't go to enough we couldn't get tickets for forest even though we wanted to go.....lucky escape possibly!

Getting back to the OP, I find it strange that no one on here is talking about the risks involved in changing managers. Fulham and Cardiff have done it and are still struggling. Unless you're a club like Fulham, once you sack the manager you've lost that option for the rest of the season. Change isn't always for the better.
Fulham aren't struggling... 5 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats in the ten league games since sacking Felix Magath. 18 points in their last ten games, unbeaten in six.

Our record over the same period is 2 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats in the last ten league games. 10 points in our last ten games, and right now it is difficult to imagine us going on a similar run.

I wish I had the optimism to think that we could go and get 5 wins and 3 draws from our next 10 to get us back into the top six, but can't see it happening with Adams in charge.

We've lost two games in a row. If we lose our next one, can anybody really imagine him getting a couple more? The next game is must win for Adams' job I feel, and the game which follows probably is too.

Our home form was the problem earlier in the season, now we go into two home games having won just three games at Carrow Road this season and on the back of two consecutive away defeats. I just can't see him surviving a defeat in either of those games.

With reference to the earlier 1p5wich comments (and try to be objective about this) does anyone not believe that MM would be getting more out of our squad at the moment? I hate to say it but I think he would.

That is a question impossible to answer objectively.   Mackay would set the team up differently, probably would have wanted different players bought in.  The baggage he would bring with him from his antics and dealings at Cardiff would be divisive.  So the whole thing would be completely different.  Better?  Wishful thinking imo.

Mick McCarthy has a fair enough record making the best of a bad job - of making silk purses from pigs ears of squads but how is his record with better players such as ours? I'm not so sure he could handle our squad any better than Adams. Would Hughton be getting more out of them is a more relevant question?

I wondered what that stink was?

He's gone, he's history. Lost the right to manage the club after West Brom. End of.

Yeah. Didn't read it properly. Mick McCarthy.  Yes to him.   Hughton?  If he hadn't been our manager already, he would have the credentials to do the job, but there's no way back there of course.    If Adams goes its Holt for me.

Nearest thing to a young Paul Lambert as you'll ever get.

Adams replaced Hughton, surely it's relevant to discuss and compare the new incumbent with his predecessor? If people believe McCarthy would eke more from the squad it isn't unreasonable to think that Hughton would.

Dangerous ground though, perhaps that's why nobody will discuss it. After all, if some thought that Hughton WOULD get more from the squad then it starts to make his sacking look a mistake in as much as his replacement is rated inferior.

And if that was the case then all sorts of arguments would open up again.

If anything it should serve as a warning and reminder that changing the manager doesn't represent a guaranteed improvement on what you have.

If we can Adams, we could end up with worse again. It happens.

Yeah I don't think he would survive that either.

Oddly I think we will win both of those games though. I have no earthly logical reason for thinking that btw, I just have from somewhere this real conviction that we will win them both. (Looking forward to having this quoted back to me after we lose them both convincingly!!!)

Question is, if he does win them both, does he get he fans back on side or are we back in Hughton mode, where victory in a couple of 'must win' games keeps things bumbling along unsatisfactorily? Personally I hope the team give themselves a collective kick up the Harris, win both of those home games and go on a run with confidence steadily building....

Has to be better than the Samaritans scenario warren refers to....doesn't it?

I think Killie that your conviction is easily explained because I share it.

The reason is that we know that the players are much better than recent games and if they rediscover their mojo and start playing as they can then they will sweep aside teams like Brighton and Reading.

That is why the present situation is so painful.  If we were rubbish then it would be easier to bear.  It is hard exactly because we know we are good and the present performances are so below what this team is capable of.

I can't recall too many managers being sacked after winning two games on the trot and the probability of those two wins propelling the team back into the play offs would definitely give the manager December at least. December looks like one of those months that you would fancy ten points but could end up with two.

I would doubt if the board would be willing to give NA a pot of money if we are in a comparable position come Xmas.
