Now we have someone on the coaching team who knows what he is doing, isnt it just a case of getting the best out of an already very good squad. So, other than one big shock in yer face signing, I would go with what we have....keep managing them well and get promotion!

You seem to have changed your view Mark, but I agree with what you say, even if it sounds a bit like it's the Phelan factor that has made all the difference. Doubtless there is some truth in that, but it's also about having a full management team again. Let's hope it can continue against Derby!

I have to disagree. The squad has two glaring holes, left wing and rightback (if you consider only Whittaker to be wanting to play there).  Whilst what we've got might be enough to achieve our goals, the team is still unbalanced and I think we should be looking to correct that

Not sure if the "fit or proper person" thing is in any way linked. I would assume its purely about your percentage spend as compared to your income. Wasn't it something like you aren't allowed to spend more that 80% of your turnover on wages, and there is a percentage loss you are allowed linked to your total turnover?

Am really looking forward to the outcome of Leicester and QPR being investigated. QPR especially must be a financial shambles!

Yeah it was all to do with the building of their amazing new training ground. Seems a bit stupid to fine them on infrastructure improvements, especially as they redeveloped a run down area of Manchester, and also created employment.

It isn't fully implemented yet, isn't it being brought in, in stages?

I think it is ultimately a good thing, there will always be the "haves" and the "have nots", but hopefully this will moderate the "haven't gots, but really wants" and hopefully preventing things like Portsmouth happening again.

LIVERPOOL are planning to sign Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy in January as speculation grows over Simon Mignolet's long-term future at Anfield.


Kop boss Brendan Rodgers sensationally dropped the Belgian stopper for yesterday's massive Premier League clash at the home of their bitter rivals, Manchester United.

Experienced Aussie Brad Jones was brought in but he conceded three goals in the disappointing defeat at Old Trafford and is unlikely to be handed the No.1 spot for the rest of the season.

That means Rodgers will look to sign a new keeper in the January transfer window and England international Ruddy is under consideration, according to the Daily Mail.

Ruddy is currently out of Roy Hodgson's England plans with Joe Hart, Ben Foster and Fraser Forster ahead of him in the international pecking order.

Norwich are in the Championship promotion mix but a move back to the Premier League in January would appeal and the Canaries could accept a fee in the region of £8m.

Crystal Palace are also interested in the 28-year-old.

Let's just say Ruddy and Redmond go and we got £16 million, and that would be hard to turn down. You could get a decent left sided player and keeper for say 8?

The ruddy to Liverpool rumour seems to be sticking in the press, but I can't see that much money coming in. Losing one or both would seriously damage our promotion chances.

I had sort of written off EB as on his way to Brighton permanently. But BJ in the presser talked of looking forward to having him back, and Brighton may not be that attractive given their current league position.

We should also remember that his season of a spectacular number of assists came in L1. He has not produced anything like that above that level. But he has been effective on the right defensively. I recall him having good games when pitted against Leighton Baines, so maybe right back is the way to go to resuscitate his career.

Time for an appraisal interview with Mr Phelan?

I'd rather we bought a proper right back.  Adams has been criticised for playing a right back as a centre half, now people are saying they want us to play a midfield player at right back ?

So do I actually. It's clear that he's probably not going to displace Redmond in right midfield, and away from home we have tended to play without wingers anyway, so I see no problems with giving him an opportunity at right back.
