Yellow, he does remind me of the Great Boyer in the selfless way he makes chances for others and brings others into play.

Gary Hooper also reminds me of David Fox in that like Fox it is not always obvious what he is doing but the team plays better and seems more cohesive.  He has made a real impact and especially seems to et Redmond free with his passes and plays into space.

I am surprised that there has not been more discussion of the gorgeous header to Jerome for the fourth.  It was played to the right place and with just the right pace to give Jerome an open goal. Sublime.

Considering how many times the last few years we've played clubs that *just* got new managers and thus enjoyed a little form bump at our expense, I have no problem assigning Phelan some of the credit.  I think there's times where another set of eyes can look at all the puzzle pieces and make them fit right, and I hope that's what's happened with our defense.  We all believed the talent was there on that side of the game, and I think our failing was just these occasional but unfortunately fatal brainfarts when it came to defending.  If we get another month down the road and the trend continues, then I will feel very, very good about things come April.

The other thing we're going to need to be on the lookout for soon is how to adapt to clubs (and counter their adaptation) when we play them on the second leg.  Some of that may be rendered moot by semi-permanent lineup changes and transfer window acquisitions, but I think it's still an important part of the chess match the second half of the season.

I totally agree, BB. That header was sublime and his backheel to Johnson for the first goal was very clever indeed. I love the way he takes a position with back to goal and looks for the best option to play it to, as he did for Howson's goal recently.
