Wifi at Carrow Road

Just a quick question but can anyone get any kind of internet connection at Carrow Road, I can never seem to connect at all, yet I see some people around me checking out scores and all kinds of thing, but I can't connect to anything at all, If you can connect what do you have to do to make it work

Also text messaging seems painfully slow, I can text my mate who sits around 10 rows in front of me, and it doesnt get delivered until we leave the ground

If you have 3G/4G which quite a few people do then there would be no problem getting wifi. If you don't then you're not gonna get a connection. And I get texts and calls fine at CR. Might just be to do with which network you're on.

I think i get 3/3.5g on vodafone, but get practically nothing in the ground

I have noticed that I have started to get 4G at Carrow Road in the last few games, its still pretty patchy though.

The person next to me watching a stream whilst watching the game a couple of games ago, so she must have had a decent connection. Isn't there a match day WiFi network? 

I used to have really poor service with Vodafone from CR. Not bad reception, just an inability to get data and the aforementioned slow text delivery. I always put this down to bandwidth limitations brought about by having 20,000 people all trying to check the half time scores at the same time. Since I switched to Three I have not had any problems though.

I'm with O2 and have an iPhone 6 (oooh look at me). I struggle to get enough connection to do anything at the ground at all during the match, but it's fine before and after. So yes, think its the fact you have 20,000 people all trying to do the same thing at the same time.

I did go to Yellows after the game on Saturday and they did have a match day wifi code on the wall as you go in. Guess that would only be any good to you if you were in the river end though!!

I go in Yellows and sit in the reverend, and the NCFCMatchday wifi is generally pretty good, although it can be quite patchy.

Another here with Vodafone and no 3G in the Barclay. Does frustrate me as I can't keep up with other scores.

Can it really be that hard to provide wifi hotspots in there?

Glad to see im not the only one who cant get a connection then, Like Killie said, surely the club can afford to improve the wifi in the barclay, and throughout the ground for that matter

I'm no expert, but I'm not sure if there is any system that could keep up with the sheer weight of numbers, in such a small area, all trying to use it.

I go away a fair bit, and its the same at pretty much every ground, Norwich may seem worse, because the reception is poor in the city anyway.

You're right Morty, it is all to do with bandwidth. No company (mobile network or football club) is going to foot the bill of putting in the infrastructure capable of dealing with 20,000 simultaneous users which for all but 50 hours a year would only get a fraction of that usage.

Oddly I am reading this in the departure lounge at heathrow! On their free wifi!!

I am not technically gifted to understand how difficult or otherwise it might be to provide wifi at FCR, but I would observe that other places where they have many thousands of captive audience users seem to manage it! I think I would even be willing to pay a small amount each home match to be able to keep up with the latest scores (I like to keep up to date with Kilmarnock's misadventures incrementally as they happen! It comes as much less traumatic than getting it all at once when I get back to the car!)

There is Match Day WiFi, providing you visit Yellows before hand and get the WPA key. My friend who I sit with goes in there before the game and he still manages to get WiFi over in the Snakepit.

I'm on EE and get full 4G sat in the Snakepit, and have no issues getting scores or checking Twitter at half time.

Cheers, may have to make a quick visit to yellows before the games in future, but I don't see why they can't just post the matchday wpa key in all the stands?

Vodafone is generally craptastic in Norwich & Norfolk anyway - there was a campaign about it a while back.
