Hi Norwich fans...a Hamilton Accies fan here. We've just got your Carlton Morris on loan. I see he hasn't really featured much for you guys but Sir Alex thinks highly of him. Just wondered if you guys had any views...is he any good?

Hi there, and welcome! This was the first Id heard of it so thats great, good opportunity for him and I hope to see a few more of our prospects going your way.

Morris spearheaded the attack when the Youth team won the Youth Cup two years ago. He was built for mens football at the age of 17 - he is a really strapping lad. He scored goals at youth level, but is more likely to be a foil for other players. He was somewhat of a target man for the Murphy twins to play off. He has one senior goal I believe, on loan at Oxford (think its on YouTube). Grant Holt was very supportive of him and thats probably the type of striker he is closest to in terms of his game.

He's been unlucky with loans not getting the game time he deserves, but its great to see him hopefully have an opportunity to play some more men's football

Welcome to the forum!    As said above, his style of play usually means he's used more to help players around him score, rather than scoring himself. But he still knows how to put the ball in the net. I've seen him score some absolute beauties for the U21s.  Scottish football should suit his physical style well, and his excellent hold-up play would benefit any team.

Do we know if the loan is season-long? It sounds like it is. As long as he's getting some first team exposure then this could do wonders for him. Would be very happy for Hamilton to become somewhat of a feeder club for us as a positive relationship with Alex Neil means things will only happen if both sides benefit. Loans to other clubs often mean the youth players dont get the opportunities they might do elsewhere, and as long as Hamilton stay in the SPL then its a good level to gain experience of men's football. Think something like this would be far more beneficial for our prospects than sporadic loans here and there

Carlton is a good prospect. I don't know if he is Premier League but he will make a decent impact in the SPL. I agree that this should be the first of many mutually beneficial contacts between our two nice clubs.

Carlton is on loan to us initially until Christmas...hopefully he does well enough for the loan to continue to the end of the season. We've signed two other new strikers as well, one of whom, Christian Made, is very physical and similar in style to Carlton. The other is an unknown quantity from the Spanish 3rd division, Salva Chamorro, but there are some good clips of his goal scoring exploits on YouTube.

An ongoing arrangement between both our clubs would be a great arrangement...Sir Alex got his springboard into the big time through our club having the belief to make him manager with no previous experience, and our current manager is an old school friend his, and I'm sure Alex wants to help us as well as Norwich!

I admittedly haven't seen much of him, however when I have seen him I've been impressed. I watched both legs of our FA Youth Cup final win a couple of years ago, and he dominated Chelsea's centre halves (one of which was Nathan Ake, who has since played a few times for the Chelsea first team, as well as a few games on loan at Reading). I don't think he'll ever be a Premier League quality striker, but I see no reason why he couldn't do a job in the SPL, and I really hope that he finally manages to prove what a good striker is at a professional level.

The fact that he's recently been given a new contract though suggests that Alex Neil see's something in him, and I trust his judgement more than I've ever trusted a Norwich City manager's judgement before, so if he believes he will one day be a very good striker, I'd go along with that.

Hamilton boss Martin Canning revealed that Morris’s move to Scotland came about because he NAGGED best friend Alex Neil about it, having seen him in action.

Canning said: “I went down last season and watched Carlton play, he did very well, and it’s something I’ve been pestering Alex about, trying to get him up!

“Alex spoke to Carlton and, luckily for us, he was open to the opportunity.

“Hopefully we can send him back a better player than he has come up as, and get him the game-time to help Alex out as well.”

Well thats fantastic. Rather than Morris being pushed on a manager who might not be to keen, looks like it was the other way around, looks like Carlton is going to get a fair crack of the whip rather than warming the bench - something nice to look out for on Saturdays.

Also suggests he's watched the youth team so hopefully will continue to look at our youth players which can only be a good thing

I actually think that RvW would succeed in the SPL, however I am not sure his agent would sanction such a move! But if Norwich are not going to play him, and we can't sell him, and we can't loan him out to a bigger club who is going to pick up his wage bill, the best thing for all parties is surely to loan him out to a club where he will play regular first team football and be back in the shop window so to speak.
