Will Van Wolfswinkel Be A Success With St Etienne?

I'd also like to see RvW return after the loan, but it depends on our promotion, his performance there and whether he fits into the team shape then. At least Adams has dispelled the conspiracy theory that he was 'forced out':

Things just didn’t work out. He had the opportunity to go and join St Etienne and he has taken that and he goes with out best wishes. I hope he does really well."

I would like to thank the members for voting on my first ( prob only ) poll.

I  find it interesting that the poll show its very close. I thought most would have said waste of money, but 41% agree with me, silly to get rid of.

29% are in the maybe, maybe not camp.

At the moment it seems, we are still split on, if it was a good idea to send RVW on loan with a sell on after the loan.

That was interesting for sure, as before Adams said that, the impression I got was this was very much a management/board decision. Now it seems Ricky wanted out, which is understandable after such a tough season. As we've mentioned a lot on here, you can't carry anyone in the Championship and if Ricky was unable to shake off last season over the Summer and the disappointment, then it made sense to send him out.

For anyone interested, Saint-Etienne start their season this Saturday with a game against Guingamp.

Who knows? But it was a good deal for us. Takes off his substantial wages, £1.25mil up front and potentially another £6mil. That's a huge amount of money. A good deal regardless of whether he was in NA's plans or not.

Seems Ricky has failed to overcome that injury, not even on the substitutes bench tonight. Won't be needing to watch that one then.

For anyone interested, I believe St Etienne are on BT Sport on Sunday, so may get a chance to see how Ricky performs in France.
