Vadis

I should start by saying that I've always been a Vadis fan but I thought his cameo on Sunday was really encouraging. Alex made reference earlier in the season to his need to work harder off the ball and the way he was crashing into challenges and closing down against Arsenal suggested that that has been taken on board. His combination of strength and skill is something a bit different from all our other CMs apart from perhaps Mulumbu, who is a more defensive type and I would like to see him get more game time. Anyone able to comment on how he did for the U21s last night?

I was also impressed when he came on. Substitutions, something Hughton never seemed to understand are a great method of confirming or changing the outcome of a game and not just injuries or tiredness. I don't think AN has fully understood it yet either. But Vadis, as you say, added a dimension that wasn't there before he came on.

As regards to the U21's,I have no idea how he performed but have noted that the earlier emphasis on playing even 15 year olds has had to scrapped, obviously to give 1st team members a run out in a competitive match but I assume to stop that horrendous run of losses that might have seen us relegated from the top division.

No mention of how VOO played, all about Loza, unsurprisingly. He did play the full 90 minutes.

I have seen Vadis play a few times for the U21's and saw him away at Everton in the cup and have always been impressed with what I have seen.

I don't think he's far away, and hopefully any worries that we had bought a complete dud have been alleviated.

I know a few Rotherham fans off another forum and they were all gutted when he left. Said he was their best player in the few weeks he was there, and that in general he just oozed class on the ball.

I've also been impressed every time I've seen him, and I do hope he manages to break into the first team at some point, and is given a proper run in the team.

I agree, Din, and if he can break into the team he'll be like a new signing for the rest of the season. AN said he wants more muscle and Vadis certainly has that, but added to skill and class on the ball. His primary role is at CM, but with the ability to carry the ball out of defence that could suit our current counter-attacking style. He has also played at DM and as a more advanced AM, so he certainly adds to AN's many options.

I think you could drop Howson for Vadis at the moment.  I love Howson, probably my favourite player at the club and he has improved his form lately, but im not seeing the trademark late runs into the box, granted he keeps being played on the wing, but we have a fairly fluid midfield. 

I could see Vadis offering the same as Brady on the opposite flank.  Maybe a midfrield of Brady, Dorrans, Howson and Vadis would be pretty great actually, in the vain of Sunday.  Dorrans does seem to be able to fufill the tettey role, as well as offer a better deeplying playmaker, when he peforms like he did on Sunday.

As an interesting side note Vadis is dog *bleep* in football manager with a natural fitness of 4, I hope they dont know something we dont

To be fair to Howson, undoubtedly one of our more gifted players, he is being played out of position.

I'm always a bit frustrated by Howson.  You look at how he waltzed past the Man C midfield & defence to score a few years back and I'd like to see him produce more of that.

I wouldn't be unhappy with this. I always assumed he was bought as a successor to Wes.

How about Brady in the "No 10" role. He has the best and most accurate shot in the club and is afraid to try his luck. He is so dangerous and I fell wide men can sometimes be out of games for too long.

Brady has shown he can pick a pass, not many can pass like Wes but he has real potential there IMO

Only got about 15 minutes and was stuck out on the left to push Brady central. Did ok when he had the ball and got several crosses in but we were so ragged by then he had little chance to make an impact.

To be fair to Howson, undoubtedly one of our more gifted players, he is being played out of position.

Cant really say that for Sats game - Howson was played centrally for the first half.

Take out the kick off and he only had 10 successful passes.  For me a rest may see him bounce back to his best which has been missing for a couple of games.   a three of Brady, Redmond and Voo or wes behind jerome against Everton suits me.    O'Neill with either mulumbu or Tettey deep fill the midfield 5 for me.

I also think it's time Howson sat out a game or two. This has been by far his worst spell in a City shirt.

I can sort of understand the reasons for playing him on the right but how much good has that done us really? 

Howson central and Redmond wide right. In my opinion, AN has been failing to get the best out of two of our more talented players.
