I just fear we lose even more our passing game if we use him in place of Hoolahan. Almost every game opening pass come trough Hoolahan this season. Even Howson's wonder goal against Stoke came when Hoolahan found VOO. Other midfielders.

Just can't see Naismith replace anyone else than him or our right winger. Brady, Jarvis and Olsson bring probaly more threat and delivery from left wing than him.

So Redmond and Hoolahan sounds like most propable to being replaced by him and I have hard time to believe he would be that influental that our attack would improve a lot. He probably is faster than Wes so countering probably would benefit from his eye for goal and non tiring legs.

Anyway not too exited because his age, price and higher status as a player as that normaly means he is almost sure starter signing. Anyway we get good team player and if he was a bit younger I would love to have squad player like him. Hopefuly he can prove to be worth of hype and price, if he gets here.

It's a concern - can he effectively replace Wes ?  It's been true for quite a while that we rely on Wes for our creative side.  Well, let's see how this one goes, if it happens...

Bear in mind that AN has said Wes can't play every game, so he is considering alternative players / tactics for when Wes is 'resting'

His best position is as a second striker. He's a tireless worker, who is great in the air for his size. He's also a good finisher, when presented with chances.

He can also play as the main striker or on either wing, but us everton fans have never been convinced with him out wide. If I had to play him wide, I'd say he's better on the left (where he can cut inside) than on the right, where he's never really shown a lot for us.

He's not an elegant number 10, he's somebody who will look to win the ball, lay it off, and get in the box to be on the end of things. 

If he plays week in, week out, then he WILL score goals whilst being a general nuisance. Everton fans have often said in jest over the years that he's the 'Scottish Messi' or 'albino Messi' the reality is however, that he's much more like the Scottish Tim Cahill.

Pretty much this. A lot of fans will be sad to see him go as he works tirelessly and is a great little player. Not really been given a crack at it this season which makes me think it was always in Martinez's plans to get rid. He will score goals for you that's for sure. You guys have another player I was hoping we'd sign when it was rumoured, Odidja-Ofoe (sp!), I watched some Bruges games when he was there prior to said move and he was class, not really hit the ground running over here, he was never gonna do it at Rotherham anyway! Hope it works out for Naisy at Carrow Road anyway, good luck for the remainder of the season.

Have to say, whilst I rate Naismith and he is a player that I would be very happy to have here, I hope that if we're signing him with the intention of using him as a Hoolahan alternative, we're going to sign a natural striker as well. Obviously Haller snubbed us earlier in the window suggesting we were in the market for a number 9, I just hope that signing Naismith means that we're not in that market anymore.

As I said though I will be very pleased if we sign Naismith. £8.5m is probably more than he's worth, but considering we got £7m for Grabban it's hardly a bad deal.

I think Naismith will be used in both positions depending on opponent but I agree with you. Hooper and Laffs out - quick forward in.

Was against it in the summer but honestly I think with Naismith in the side Gayle could work.
