I think I have got the sums right, please correct me should I have got it wrong.

This season in the Premier League we will get in region of £75 million from tv / league.

Next Season, if we finish 17th say in Premier League we will get in region of £110 million.

Championship mid table table club will receive 36p + parachute payment of around £20 million.

We have borrowed against next seasons tv money already, not sure how much?, but  its fair to say, should we manage to stay in this league, we will have a couple of quid to spend.

Trouble is though that everyone else has the same to spend plus whatever their owners chip in. I don't think we will get comparatively richer, but I do think that wages and transfer fees will inflate even more.

The one big positive is that we will be a step ahead of promoted sides from the Championship, assuming the ones that come up aren't super rich.

Yep, this season was unusual, Bournemouth + Watford have loads of money behind them, we were the poor relations in a financial sense of the promoted clubs.

Which has also contributed to the likes of Sunderland, Newcastle and Villa being found out. They have rode their luck in recent years, because the three promoted sides have usually been the immediate favourites to go down.

Mainly because we would have come up with a far bigger wage bill than them already. Almost our entire squad went back up to Premier League wages the moment we were promoted, and Bournemouth and Watford aren't lumbered with deadwood on Prem wages like Van Wolfswinkel. .

League position doesn't always correlate with level of investment though does it, Newcastle have spent a fortune and we just beat them. In the last three or four games one of our best players has been Gary O'Neil who cost us £0 in transfer fees.

And Sunderland have a striker on (allegedly) £70k a week. Although I wouldn't say no to Defoe, its the rest of their squad which is sh*t.

Should imagine we'll be trying to free up a lot of resources in the summer by shifting Lafferty, Van Wolfswinkel, Mulumbu, Andreu etc. We may as well pay off RVW's contract.

Michael Turner is out of contract so suspect he'll be released. Possibly a few surprises too.... Maybe Vadis out, and despite his heroics is it possible that we'll be saying goodbye to O'Neil?

I really hope that we sign Mbokani this summer if we stay up, got a feeling that his second season would be better than his first, in the same way that Vardy struggled last season and has come alive this year. He's got everything a striker needs at this level and works well with Naismith.

And for me, O'Neil is doing enough to justify another year as a squad player.

I'm not sure how long a contract O'Neill could demand based on his age, however, if I was making the decision, he would be captain next season, with Howson as deputy.

I'd definitely keep Gary O'Neil, he'll be 33 at the end of the season, and I believe out of contract, but the experience he adds to the squad would be huge, sign him up to a one year extension with the option of a second year and see what happens from there, but surely he deserves to be part of our squad for at least another 12 months

I would agree with this. From what I have seen of him he is showing no signs of fading.

He was good, in my opinion, before his heads gone moment and the red card.

How he came back from that is fantastic, I still can't put my finger on it, a red card after 200 games, but he has been focused and hard working, it could have all gone wrong after that card.

He is a seasoned pro, professional, keeps himself fit and plays his heart out.

If Newcastle want to see where a lot has gone wrong, then having a Gary Oneill in the centre of the park, would have been a good start.

He's been immense over the last three games. I think he reads the game better than any of other midfielders but he's fairly fleet of foot too. He and Howson are the perfect combination because they can both pass, make forward surges and be disciplined defensively. When Tettey is in there his poor passing and lack of vision slow things down despite his physical presence defensively. They also give less daft free kicks away than him too!

Klose is another who I think could wear the captains armband next season.    More importantly though we now have a couple of on pitch leaders - that is invaluable

Klose should be the baseline for the new signings we are looking to make.

Absolute shoe in for captain, in my opinion. We had a discussion in the pub after, the topic being "Can you remember a better centre back that has played for Norwich?" and it was only the ones with good memories who could.

Absolutely outstanding on Saturday.

The way we went about our business in January gives me hope that we'll be in for an exciting summer, should we stay up.

Same with QPR last season, after they released him upon promotion and then purchased more journeymen.

Just goes to show how important it is to bring in the right characters and I think this is something that Alex Neil is very good at, it was hilarious when he sent that Argentine player back to Spain. He must have been good enough in terms of quality else we wouldn't have flown him over, was obvious that he turned up with a billy big boll*cks attitude and was sent packing.

In the bottom three teams I can count 9 former England internationals:

Wes Brown, Jack Rodwell, Jermaine Defoe, Micah Richards, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Joleon Lescott, Kieran Richardson, Jonjo Shelvey, Andros Townsend. And Scott Sinclair is a Team GB player.

How many of those would we actually take, how many of them are just interested in their final pay day and how many still feel like they have something to prove and some ambition left? I wouldn't get excited about any of them. I'd possibly be interested in Defoe at the right price, because he still seems to have a passion for playing and scoring and looking after his fitness, but even he could potentially become a problem when dropped and would I'd be worried about his attitude if not the main man.

Shame that Shelvey seems to be going the same way as all the other great English w*nkers who get rich and arrogant and achieve nothing in the game because they think they've made it at 19, his passion was the best thing about him when he appeared on the scene as a youngster.

I've never fancied Townsend either, poor mans Nathan Redmond who has had one good season in his entire career.

Now, if we got to see the weekly salary of all of those players, that's when you'd probably realise that it isn't how much you spend but how you spend it on the right characters. I bet our wage bill is by far the lowest in the bottom 4.

Gary O'Neil has never been anywhere near good enough to justify an England cap, but he's got more passion and desire in his little finger than any of those other wasters have got in entirety, so give him another year, he's earned it, even if we succeed in upgrading and he's used to tighten up games for 10 minutes at the end.

Perhaps sometimes operating on a tight budget can actually a blessing in disguise, because it means that you don't have to resist the temptation to take a punt on Micah Richards playing like it is 2009 again, if you haven't got £50k a week to waste on a four year contract for Micah Richards then you aren't going to do it.

Its crazy to think that Aston Villa are going to be paying Micah Richards £10.4m + whatever signing on fee he got, which was probably 10% of contract value.

The next Leeds United?

They could quite easily be. Just goes to show what season after season of financial mismanagement does. Coupled with an arrogance that they are "too good, or big, to be relegated".

I wonder if when Mike Ashley and Randy Lerner came into the British game, they genuinely believed they had enough money to make the respective clubs top four material?

Just another in a series including Leeds, QPR and Portsmouth.
