I suppose it depends on whether we can generate interest from more than one club.... but we're talking about a market where a 29 year old Steven Naismith goes for £8.5m. 

Snodgrass went for £7m with one year left on his deal.

We seem to have a good record of rebuilding. I'd even argue that Adams and gunn must rank as fair appointments given the way they balanced the books and rebuilt for the next campaign.

Don't know what I did there. But yes,  I do stand by that. The first thing gunn did was let the overrated go. Marshall, Clingan, croft, stefanovic etc and keep the underrated such as hoolahan. 

Then he spent £3.50 on a team that was more than capable of doing the job required of it. Ok Tudor Jones or oli Johnson might not have been hall of fame candidates but what else could we expect in league 1?

And holt for 500,000. What a masterstroke.

As for Holt, it was a great signing but not a case of plucking him out of obscurity.

Holt was actually signed on the recommendation of Ettie, Delia's Mum. You're right about Oli GJP.

Marshall, Croft and Clingan wanted higher level football and Stefanovic was invalided out of the game after doing his cruciate against QPR, if I remember correctly.

Both Clingan and Marshall only had 1 year left on their contracts, so was sell or lose for free. 

Croft actually left on a bosman that summer, he waited until just after his 24th birthday to sign for Derby so they didn't have to pay any compensation. He was crap anyway, must be the worst POTS winner of my lifetime. Shows just how rubbish we were.

You're right though, he won that POTS based on the effort he put in and not actually any quality. What an awful team we had.

Croft was a decent player. It's just one of those stupid situations where has has taken more criticism after actually getting stuck in than many of his team mates who didn't give a *bleep*/went missing.

Croft was one of the few who actually looked like they cared in that relegation season, don't deny that, that's why he won the POTS. 

But he struggled to ever last ninety minutes and had no end product, found his level in League One.
