Gary O'Neil has joined Bristol City on a free transfer, bit disappointed in this to be honest, sure he was never one to set the world on fire, but he always gave his all and has plenty of experience in the championship, I think he's been promoted with West Ham, QPR and ourselves in the last few years, so knows what the championship is all about, sure he'll be a decent signing for Bristol City

If it required a two year deal to keep him then I can see why we'd let him go, did enough last season to warrant another year here in this league, but if all goes to plan and we go up at first attempt then he's the type of player we really need to be leaving behind next time, like Whittaker. 

If Whittaker had a two year deal on the table from elsewhere he'd be gone too.

Whittaker actually signed a one year deal with an "option" for another year, don't know how that one works but I guess it will be triggered if he makes a certain number of appearances? So could be that he has effectively been given a two year deal here.

Let us not forget that Bristol City will be in the same league as us next season. So I don't buy the lesser club. And they do have a wealthy owner who has already spent a lot of money on ground improvements.

We have a handful of central midfielders better than Gary O'Neil so I'm not really bothered.

Obviously gotten himself a nice contract, good luck to him.

He put in some decent shifts, BUT...at his age and stage of career every years contract counts when you consider how much a week these guys earn, plus a chance to progress his coaching.   We can, and I am sure have better and will bring in better!
