well that didnt take long, only been here what 6 months? wolves fans must be so jealous we got him out so quick, reading the article it appears that he and his family haven't settled in the area, and that the transfer window didn't go to plan, so mutual agreement to terminate his contract, though i've no doubt we gave him a nice thank cheque for his efforts

Hearing all sorts, but it all just points out to him not being right for the job. The high cup game prices, the silly staged interview, and refusing to meet with fans groups, that nonsense may be fine at Wolves, but it won't do for us.

Also hearing that this was in the pipeline for a while, and they just wanted the window out of the way. Also that wheels are in motion for a replacement.

My guess would be Steve Stone.

He was deadwood wasn't he, didn't bring any new energy or new ideas.

Think his biggest problem was his poor communication skills. He was probably perfectly capable but all he needed to do was make it appear like we had some sort of plan and communicate that to the fans to inspire some confidence, failed to do that.

Hopefully his successor will make it appear that they have some sort of plan that we can all buy into, even if it is as simple as saying that we want to shift a few high earners in the summer and reinvest in players aged 22/23/24 who have their best years ahead of them, to build a team for the next 5/6/7 years.

I wasn't very comfortable with his appointment and have seen little since then to convince me otherwise.

I can't think of much, maybe it's just my perception but he hasn't sold it to me, or the rest of City fans by the sounds of it.

So why did they appoint him? At best he's a safe pair of hands but that's not what we needed after relegation. You would hope the board had learned its lesson and will go for someone more dynamic with a point to prove but we'll probably end up with another mediocre championship journeyman.

The club used an external consultant, I assume he was considered the best candidate for the job, by them.

If you take away the fact he is horrible, his CV is actually pretty good. Presided over some successful times at Wolves.

That's kind of my point. He was known and a free agent. What was the consultant for?

No idea, I presume that Moxey wasn't the only candidate? Maybe the consultant whittled it down to just the best ones?

Probably just given a list of criteria and he was the only one who ticked the boxes. How about:

1. Experience in role, not too long unemployed.
2. Experience of getting out of the Championship (via the top).
3. Has shown that they can balance the books.
4. Has a preference for signing domestic players. 
5. Has signed young players and resold at a profit. 
6. Can afford his wages. 

If its a box ticking exercise, he fulfills a lot of likely criteria. 

His personality didn't fit though, or he just didn't have any drive and passion left, or both of those things.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is a fall out over the manager. 

Perhaps Moxey wanted to install his own man, possibly Kenny Jackett, and the board didn't agree. 

Would make sense.

I would expect the remit of external consultants would be to put forward a list of suitable and available candidates. Possibly including encouraging candidates to apply. 

The board would then interview and make the decision on who to appoint. They may take advice from the consultants in the process, and the consultants may even be there and participate in the interview but there will be a line that they will not cross - the decision on who to appoint will solely be that of the board's.

Absolutely.

Still a bit of a mystery as to why this didn't work. I would assume Jez knew all about Delia and how Norwich City works, how we do things, our financial situation, the lot. And I would assume that the board, during interview, would clearly set out how things work, and the way they want the club to go forward. I should also imagine that Jez had a pretty good idea as to why McNally left too.

We'll probably never know the truth of it.
