Genuinely shocked, never thought they'd sack him unless we were drawn into a relegation battle. It's the right decision unfortunately though it's far too late.
Thanks for the memories Neil, that day at Wembley was the best footballing experience of my life. Good luck for the future but unfortunately it just didn't work out in the end here.
Now let's go and get Warburton or Rowett and allow them to re-build the squad over summer. We need a serious clear-out and to be honest I wasn't confident Neil was the man to do it.

Even thought the concensus is that he was poor manager I think he did alright for us, but two failed sesson objectives and he had to go.
My only worry here is we dont use this chance to sign a manager with long term plan, but one of those mercenary faces who brings nothing new and rely tactics from the 90's. Hopefuly board takes it time and don't panic.

Rumours from Charlie Wyatt that there was a bust up between Alex Neil and Delia, over the summer restructure plans, hinting that Alex wanted Wes to go, and she didn't (probably because elderly ladies love his cuteness)

Agreed. I think 'young and hungry' is more suitable when it comes to recruiting players than managers. We needed a complete clear-out last season but now we have an aging squad of Championship has-beens that are worth not much more than a couple of million each on average, and some of them like Naismith we're stuck with because no one else would pay their inflated salaries. So we need someone who really knows what he's doing in the transfer market to make the best of a bad situation.

What percentage of rumours from The Sun have any truth at all? 10% maximum? Yet people still lap it up thinking 'this time it's different!' These guys just make this stuff up.

I'm on night shift so got up and am still absorbing everything, and especially trying to make sense of letting a manager do a press conference talking about summer restructuring, then sacking him a few hours later. Obviously he said something the board didn't like the sound of!
As an aside, my girlfriend was at the evening with Ed Balls, and he talked quite a bit about it, without particularly revealing anything juicy, he did say there was a 4 hour board meeting today, and that there is never a good time to break news to a manager that he is sacked!

Also, I note, that in the pinkun's article about the sacking, the club has said that an announcement about restructuring within the club will be made next week. Makes you wonder if the new director of football is already in the house....

Well, they seem to have got it right about the new clause in Neil's contract requiring us to pay him a golden goodbye. But after everything over the past year, the relegation, the winless streaks, conceding 5 goals like we just don't care, do you really think Neil saying he thinks Hoolahan's time is up would cause him to be sacked?

Of course it isn't the only thing, that would be absurd.
But Cameron Jerome's words about the managers hands being tied were interesting, and certainly makes me think that there were things going on in the dressing room that weren't helping.
Lets not forget Hoolahan's tantrum when he wasn't allowed to join Villa, and called Norwich a "$hithouse of a club" then refused to celebrate a goal against them.

You don't get rid of a club legend 1 year before they are due their testimonial.
I don't care if he spends a year making 5 minute cameo appearances from the bench just so we can sing his name occasionally, everybody wants a Westimonial at Carrow Road with Lambo as our manager, Grant Holt wearing number 9, and The Admiral at the back.
May as well try and enjoy a bit of nostalgia, haven't got much else to celebrate.
It does beg the question though, if Alex Neil thinks Hoolahan is finished.... then why is he playing him so much? Pritchard and Maddision play in his position, but can't get a run of games.
First step should be asking him to retire from international duty and then starting him in only every other game. Alex Neil has probably contributed to his mediocrity this season by expecting too much from him. He hasn't started this frequently for about 4 seasons.
