Always a good feeling when signings get made official, even if it's one we've expected for a little while now.
Strikers need to become our priority now. Obviously I don't doubt Webber and Farke are working hard behind the scenes to try and make something happen, but a new striker coming in or at least having a bid accepted for one would raise optimism a little bit (though only if said striker is not completely terrible).
What would really help the optimism as well is shifting all the deadwood. So far only Watkins out the door though and Wildschut looking like he'll go out on loan. That still leaves us with Martin, Naismith, Oliveira, Jarvis, McGovern, Husband and maybe Franke. Jarvis and McGovern I don't think there's a chance we'll find a suitor and it wouldn't overly surprise me if Husband is kept as back-up. Nelson, Martin and Naismith though all need to be shifted promptly. The thought of any of them just being Norwich City players come the start of the season frustrates me.
What's the rules this year in terms of the transfer window? Obviously it's the first season where it's actually closing before the season starts but is that just for permanent transfers between English clubs, so we'd still be able to buy/sell abroad until the end of August. Can we still loan players to and from other English clubs even after the first game of the season? In all honesty I could look it up but I can't be bothered
Also in other news, looks like Angus Gunn to Leeds on loan will probably happen. Disappointing. I assumed he wasn't coming back to us because he or Manchester City either want to use him as back-up or will loan him to a bottom end Premier League club to continue his improvement. If they're just going to loan him back to a Championship club who are no better than us then that's really annoying. Apparently though Leeds' new manager is best mates with Pep which is the main reason it's happening.
