£10m can pretty much buy you a squad if you are clever.... ask Mick McCarthy.

Waghorn and Garner cost less than £1m combined.

Should imagine Lambert will ship out their loanees though and bring a new bunch in, Evans won't be letting him dish out the 2.5 year deals unless they are on League One wages.... anybody on Championship wonga will need to be a loanee.

Pilkington is a good shout though, and he was linked to Ipswich last January. Would be a good signing for them in fairness, probably create more than any of their current bunch despite his long term fitness issues.

Its a shame Russell Martin didn't hold out for another couple of weeks, would have been funny seeing TWTD get all excited and then the penny dropping with how fucked his legs are a few weeks later.

There isn't really anybody else from our 2011/12 squad who is still playing at a high enough level to be useful for them, the few that are playing are getting regular football in better teams.

Lambert hasn't really got anything to lose has he, Ipswich were the bookies favourites for relegation before they'd kicked a ball, are bottom of the league and everybody realises how rubbish they are.

If he fails to keep them up he is unemployable, which is what he pretty much was before he joined as he is in last chance saloon in English football (perhaps a lesser second tier German side, or a mid-table SPL side would still give him a job, or he can be the latest in a long line of managers to fail to get Scotland to qualify for a major tournament).

But if he does keep them up, however unlikely that looks, he suddenly looks like a good manager again and can leverage that to jump ship at the earliest opportunity and get a job at Sheffield Wednesday or something.

The thing is, he'd probably actually be the man to squeeze a few goals out of Martin and as a player he's in the last chance saloon at this level too (he's been shit for the past couple of years).

He's shit now, but it would still irritate me to see him in a Scum shirt even if he was technically born in their territory (although I think its disputed territory really).

And shit is probably a level up on what they currently have up front.
