I think Mclean has been very good the last two games, Vrancic definitely a bit anonymous tonight.
Hugill, Cantwell, Emi, Skipp, back four did well with crosses etc.
Sorensen trying his best but we need a left foot in that position, hopefully he will get to play in his natural position sooner or later.
Aarons was ok, an assist, but seemed to find it hard work tonight.
I just felt that McLean & Vrancic were both passengers, Kenny had a shot on target at a fairly easy height for the keeper, but seemed to play his usual game. Lots of passes behind players or to players surrounded by the opposition.
Lots of pointing but unfortunately he's not up to it.
Vrancic is a strange one, anonymous when started but seems like a superstar when comes on as a sub.

Passing **

Barca will pass in front of the player so you run onto it, or pass to the opposite side of the defender. If defender is on your left shoulder, the pass is made to your right foot etc.

McLean is a proponent of hospital passes, firing it into players where they instantly have a tackle to make to retain possession.

I'm sorry I can't see what you see in his play.

I see Kenny as a water carrier, a Gary Holt. Every team needs one, they can't all be Emi or Todd. Overall I would say he is an average player, but the last two games, he has been better.

I thought Sorenson had a really good game too.

Were we watching the same game? :p
He did as well as could be expected, didn't do alot wrong.
But you well know that alot more would be expected from a left winger / left back. A huge amount more.
I'm not critical of him, he's a youngster playing out of position.

Gary 'three lungs' Holt, wasn't a passenger, he made a difference.
Skippy isn't creative like Emi etc, but he gets stuck in, doesn't stand off the attacker waving his arms.
I can't see McLean getting much game time once Rupp is fit, he's just not good enough at this level, certainly not in the conversation after promotion.

The games we've been playing, we're a level above the teams in the Championship.
If Farke can sort those few issues we can survive in the Premier League.
We're not too far away.

Really good victory that, as comfortable a win as we've had all season. The only criticism I have is the usual, that the scoreline should've reflected our dominance a lot more, particularly given how poor Bristol City generally were. The whole game it felt like we could step it up and blow Bristol City away if we needed to.

Man of the match is a close one, Gibson probably edges it over Sorenson though for me. Some of Gibson's forward passing and his ability to bring the ball out from the back, particularly in the first half, was just sublime. Hard to recall a centre back we've had that looks so comfortable and is so positive in possession, what a signing he has been, and hopefully will be come the end of the season. Sorenson was superb though too. Considering he's not overly blessed with pace and is a right footer playing on the left hand-side, he had Bristol City's right back Jack Hunt on toast all game, and put some delicious balls into the box which on another day we would've scored from. He was absolutely solid defensively and didn't really put a foot wrong all game. Special word on Skipp and McLean too. Looks like they're forming a really nice partnership and both of them were excellent today. McLean's playing as well as I've ever seen him play for us.

I'm really pleased for Hugill. You can tell he's not a traditional Daniel Farke player, but today we seemed to actually get far more crosses into the box and he thrived off that, and could've had more than the two he got. He still needs to work on his hold-up play and using possession better, but you can't really ask for a lot more from your striker than to score a brace that basically wins you the game.

The nice thing is now we have a bit of a break until the next league game, so hopefully we can get a few of our injured players back, and obviously Giannoulis in too, before our game against Boro on the 30th. Hard not to be positive right now!

Sorensen was a contender for MOTM and the Bristol City fans claimed that he was the best full back they've seen in this league. They don't even know he's out of position!

Number 9 always has it in for Mclean but he's been our best midfielder over the last few games, and scored a couple in the process.

I bang on about people seeing "what they want to see" based on their preconceptions of players. This is a key example.

Mclean was apparently a passenger, where as Skipp gets complimented.

Of course, Skipp had a good game.

But Mclean covered more ground, successfully tackled more times than Skipp, dribbled more times than skipp, passed forwards more times than skipp, was disposessed less than skipp, and shot more than skipp. These are all easily-accessible statistics.

Mclean had an excellent game and it's a shame that some refuse to accept things and would rather let their internet-ego rule their thoughts.

If McLean has a crap game fair enough have a pop. If he has a good game like last night, give the guy the credit he deserves imo.
I listen to you all and respect your opinion.

In my opinion Emi & Cantwell are streets ahead, from what I watch them do.

I struggle with stats because having a box ticked by a bot when someone passes the ball doesn't really relate to real life on the pitch.
ie. positioning of the players, where the ball came from and went to.

I don't hate McLean, just don't think he's very good.

I asked myself why did Farke say that when he spends all season explaining his policy of not praising his young players in the media.
The answer is found in his comments recently about Xavi.

Yes Jacob has done well, no he's not a left back or left winger and we all look forward to seeing him develop in his position.

Anyone spot Eddie being told to sit down and shut up by Farke?
Not sure what had occurred, anyone see it?

Even if you don't think someone's a good player, to say they were carried is just a lie. Its not even a opinion. The opposite is backed up with facts and what every other fan saw. And what the professional coaches see. That's why he plays.

You don't need statistics to know that Kenny wasn't carried. Or at least you shouldn't. I provided them because you clearly can't tell from watching a match.
