Seems to be Pinkun speculation (I do not know exactly what, as won't pay to get past their paywall) that Max Aarons could be going? Seems a bit of a lazy take, to me, and I'm not aware of him making any noise about it. Its like someone has just looked at the squad and decided he is our most saleable asset, and run with it.

I thought he had a pretty average season, frankly, but I have no doubt he has the quality to step up a bit.

I'm not sure about Max, he tended to pass / cut inside rather than get to byline and cross.
I understand that it maybe how Farke told him to play, doesn't really seem to be Smiths style.

We never really played with out and out wingers either, probably because our front players aren't exactly prolific in the air, making crosses like that just too easy to defend.

To be honest I can't see much transfer action either in or out regarding first team players. We have so many loan players coming back that I reckon Webber will tell Smith to just go ahead with what he's already got.

We really do need two midfielders though, to replace Normann and Gilmour. I don't see any returning players as ones to step into those roles.

He's got experience in the Premier League and has experienced a couple of promotions from the Championship.
An unusually sensible signing, it's Smiths first signing, let's hope for a few more along these lines.

I think it's been known for a while that he wanted to head back down South. Think he's an Essex lad. So I've wondered before if we'd go in for him and if he would fancy us because there's not many clubs in the South East ish that would both want him and afford him.

He's not the most exciting player ever but he is what we need.

Will be interesting to see if we keep zonal or go back to man to man when defending set pieces although most clubs seem to do a bit of both now

Have read about some interesting stuff he did with the England team. Definitely see this as a positive, identifying a weakness and doing something about it.
