That Sequel Is Better

Is this not one of the age old questions for any movie fan?

People may argue that the Godfather 2 was better than the original, perhaps Aliens was better than Alien etc etc.

So my question to you guys, can you name a sequel that is better than the original, with everyone agreeing.

I thought about this, as last night I found one. I watched The Purge Anarchy last night, which is the sequel to the Purge. Now let me start by saying, it wouldn't take a great deal to be better than The Purge, although it was a fantastic concept, the execution was abysmal with Ethan Hawke.

I went into this movie thinking, it can't get any worse. Alas I wasn't disappointed, personally I thought this film was light years ahead of the first in every aspect, writing, acting, drama, score, visuals etc etc.

Has anyone seen both? and do you agree that the second one is vastly superior? If you didn't watch the second one because you thought the first one was terrible, then I advise you to reconsider, it wasn't a piece of art, but it was pretty enjoyable.

Not really a sequel i know but the second film Life of Brian was better than the Holy Grail, other than that The Empire Strikes Back, Lord of the Rings trilogy rather than The Hobbit :)

I always preferred Terminator 2,  Rocky III is better than the original, The Dark Knight is better than Batman Begins, if you class any Bond film that follows Dr No as a sequel then there are plenty of those too.

I admitedly haven't seen loads of classic films, and off the top of my head the only one I can think off is that The Dark Knight is easily better than Batman Begins. Probably loads more but I can't think of them right now.

Not seen Anarchy yet, but will give it a look.

Agree on Dark Knight.

Can't think of any others off top of my head.
