Will want to see his replacement perform before making judgement, but after the final whistle yesterday I did wonder whether any of our recent departed will regret leaving this season, if we carry on like we are, with the way that the players are developing a bond with each other (and with the fans), with a committed manager who is proving to be a great man manager and motivator. After yesterday, a great tactician too.
Leroy Fer would have torn this league to shreds in my opinion, lazy or not. He is probably making more money at QPR but he is in another relegation battle with a squad full of undesirable characters with a manager who all but admitted recently that he isn't in it for the long term. I'm less convinced that RVW would have, but perhaps even he will look back and wonder whether being third choice and scoring a few goals might have been more fun than playing for St Etienne (for whom he has still not scored).
Snodgrass has just been unlucky at Hull of course.

To be fair he was superb for QPR in their last game against Sunderland. Got an assist and hit the bar, and dominated midfield in general.

Given that I don't give a toss about either team I decided to watch him closely today and three things struck me. The first was that he barely ever got above a jog at any point. The second was that he NEVER chased back to cover, even when he had lost the ball himself. However, the third was the most telling, in that he consistently laid the ball off to a teammate without looking to move to a position where he could get it back. In fact, on a number of ocassiosn he actually seemed to hide behind an opponent.
Vastly overrated and a super deal by McNally to get that fee.

Does Fer remind anyone else of Dickson Etuhu?

To be honest, Fer would've been a great option to have in this league, but he wasn't crucial, in the same way that someone like Ruddy or maybe Hoolahan is. Having Fer would've been a bonus yes, but our team was never going to live or die with him.

£10m was a genius master stroke by McNally.
Lazy poor no fight when going a goal down, can you imagine what he would have been like at 2 down on saturday his head would have dropped and would have wandered around like a zombie like he did for most of last season and yesterday for QPR.

There is a ginormous difference between playing away at Old Trafford when they turn it on like that, and playing away at Brentford like we will be tomorrow.
Many of the players in the team that you saw score 4 goals in one half yesterday were in our side which lost 4-0 to Man Utd on 26th April, under Neil Adams, and looked equally poor.
You also said that Redmond was rubbish and we should sell him for £5m, so before we start the told you so's, lets reflect on how good Redmond was in the second half on Saturday. Personally I thought he was tremendous.
We just don't know how good Fer would have been for us in the league, under a manager who seems to be able to motivate players. Then again, I'm not sure I really care because we haven't had any reason to miss him yet.

I'm reserving judgement on Redmond, one good half doesn't make you a great player, he has had over a season of utter mediocrity, so lets not get carried away after one good half, if he carries on player like that then brilliant for us and him, but lets not get over-hyped

Sure. one good game doesn't make a season. Exact same applies to Leroy Fer though, one bad game doesn't break a season. He was no better or worse than any of the other players in our team last season, who were mostly mutually rubbish. Our players have a new lease of life under Adams now, so we just don't know what Fer would have looked like in our team.

Now Canary that I agree with our team was crap last season and we do have a new lease of life. I just don't think Fer has the stomach and fight that a player like Johnson or Tettey has.
Yes he is a more skilful player that them, but when you have to roll up your sleeves and dig in and fight he showed last season and yesterday that he doesn't fancy it.
I would take Johnson and Tettey every time over Fer.
